How to Get Rich
PROVERBS 11:23-28
(Proverbs 11:23-28) The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath. There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him. He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. (KJV)
I. THE WARNING THAT IS GIVEN
“He that trusteth in his riches shall fall.”
A. IS THE CHURCH TRUSTING IN A FALSE SENSE OF
SECURITY?
(Revelation 3:17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (KJV)
1. The church at Laodicea was prosperous.
2. The church at Laodicea did not know it was poor.
B. A CHURCH CAN NEVER TRIUMP WHO HAS A FALSE
SENSE OF SECURITY.
1. Earthly riches are only temporary.
2. They cannot be trusted.
II. THE WAY TO GET RICH
A. IT’S NOT BY WHAT WE GAIN. Consider the Rich
Farmer, Luke 12:16-21
1. His prosperity was from God.
2. His prosperity made him godless.
3. His prosperity turned to poverty.
B. IT’S BY WHAT WE GIVE.
Lu 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
1. Think of the opportunity we have.
a. There are so many to give to.
b. There is so much to give away.
"More than is meet."
2. Think of the outcome.
a. Lives will be helped.
b. The Lord will be honored.
