Song of the Heart
Song of Solomon 1:1
I. Introduction
The term song of songs is to be understood in the same manner the term Lord of lords or King of kings is use. The Lord of lords is the greatest lord. The King of kings is the greatest king. And the song of songs is the greatest song. Of the over 1000 songs Solomon wrote, David Hubbard tells us this song was the best of all.
II. The Best Song -- the song of songs
A. Because of the Singers -- two lovers and their friends.
B. Because of the Subject -- the love of two a man and woman.
C. Because of the Setting -- a covenant of mutual love and commitment.
III. A Better Song Still -- the song of the redeemed
A. Because of the Singers -- the redeemed of all ages.
B. Because of the Subject -- the love of Christ.
C. Because of the Setting -- around the throne of God.
IV. Conclusion
The Song of Solomon may be allegorical, typical, literal, or dramatic, but the song of the redeemed is actual, factual, and soon to be sung.
