Have you ever felt like nothing good ever happens to you? That somebody else is getting the blessing you need.
Have you ever said to yourself, why can’t God bless me?
I’ve got a news bulletin for you this morning. The feelings of isolation, loneliness, and abandonment that you have faced are nothing than the enemy trying to bring you down.
We just looked at some powerful words from the scriptures that simply say, “If God be for us, who can be against us.”
I’ve come out of my prayer closet with a Word of the Lord for someone here this morning that God is on your side.
I believe that God wants to minister to you this morning. Some of you are wounded and broken and you’re desperately in need of God to heal your heart and your emotions.
Satan has trounced all over you. You come in with a smile that is pasted on your face. It’s all you can do to wear it, but underneath that smile you live in pain and wonder if anything is ever going to change.
You’ve come to the right place this morning, because I believe that God is going to meet with you today. I’m trusting that God is going to break through some of the religious spirits that keep us from receiving from God.
Let me share with you this morning, religion will kill you. Religion has created an atmosphere where we find it hard to believe that God is on our side because all we see God as is the terminator, or the punisher if we don’t get it right.
We perpetuate that attitude, we say “if you don’t do right, God is going to get you.” “Watch out, or God will zap you.”
If all you ever have is a narrow vision of who God is you’ll never be able to walk in the fullness of your relationship with Him.
We need to come to the understanding that God is on our side. I want to share with you three areas that will help you come into a fuller understanding of this.
First, in order for us to come into an understanding that God is on our side, we must first understand our relationship with Him.
This is a critical point for our lives. This is where we mess up because we don’t understand our relationship with Him.
We’re like Israel so many times. Israel couldn’t seem to get it right. They saw God as the lawgiver, an authority figure that they were afraid of. They knew Him as the one on top of Mt. Sinai where the thunder and lighting was, and if you didn’t do something that God didn’t like, you were toast.
They let Moses go up the mountain while they told him they were content where they were. They were afraid of God and because of that they missed out on the relationship that God wanted with them.
If we only see God as an authority figure then we really miss out on what God is all about.
Let me give you and example of what I’m talking about. He didn’t give us the 10 commandments just so we would have a bunch of rules to follow.
God knew that there were certain things that would happen in our life if we do them. The 10 commandments were more than just laws written down, they were 10 areas that God wanted His people to know that if they lived by these laws, it would open up a new dimension of their relationship with Him.
In essence they were an expression of love. For example…
You don’t stop loving your children just because you correct them, or discipline them. You don’t tell your children don’t put your hand in the fire because you want to take away all his or her fun.
It might seem that way to the child. It might look fun to see what would happen if they put their hand in the fire. But you know what the end result is going to be if they do, so out of a heart of love you give them guidelines and rules to live by.
What the enemy does not want you to see, is that God is on your side. I’m here this morning to let you know that there is such a love affair that God has going for you that He didn’t stop expressing that love until He gave His very best through the person of Jesus Christ.
What we need the world to see that Salvation is not about not going to hell and joining a church and becoming religious.
Salvation is about accepting God’s invitation to let Him love you. Salvation is the ultimate expression of love.
To think that God was willing to take me as I was, with all my faults, all of my failures, there was nothing that I could hide from Him, and yet He was willing to take me in and love me.
Someone might ask, then why does God send people to hell? He doesn’t, God has never sent anyone to hell, we send ourselves by rejecting His invitation to love us.
You can’t understand God being on your side until you understand the depth that God loves us.
In the New Testament, we see Jesus weeping over Jerusalem because they didn’t understand how God wanted to take them under His wings and provide for them and protect them.
Why would God love us so much? Because when we accept Christ as our personal Savior, we are then adopted into the family, and we get all the rights and benefits of being in the family.
God loves His children, and no one better mess with His kids.
Touch someone and tell them, don’t mess with God’s kids.
It doesn’t matter if your black, white, red or yellow. God loves you.
You might be saying to yourself, God doesn’t love me, nobody has ever really loved me.
You may have been the one no one wanted to pick to be on their team. You might be the one that was always standing by yourself, and no one wanted much to do with you.
But I’ve got news for you this morning. It doesn’t matter what they’ve did to you in the past.
Jesus is saying to you this morning, I’ll be the one that will choose you. He’s saying to you this morning, I will never, never, never, under any circumstance, under any situation, leave you alone.
You might feel rejected by the world, but that’s okay, you’ve got a heavenly cheering section that’s rooting you on.
You might wander from Him, but He’s still loving you. Your children may be away from God, but He’s still loving them, and waiting for them to come home.
There’s not a person in hell that God didn’t love, they’re there because they rejected God’s love.
If something isn’t working right in your relationship with God, then you better check your side because nothing’s wrong with His side. He loves you!
There’s no devil in hell that can change the fact that God loves you. Someone tell the devil right now, God is on your side.
Not only do we need to understand our relationship with Him, we need to understand our position in Him.
You need to understand something about your position in Christ. As a Child of God, you go forth in the name of Jesus the name that is above every name. The name that is mightier than sickness, the name that is mightier than death, the name that is mightier than the enemy.
When Jesus speaks, the Universe listens, and here’s where it gets even better, He said, not Bob, not Jim, not Suzy. Jesus said in John 14:13,14…
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Here’s what you need to realize, you’re not a nobody. You’re not just a member in some church. I’m not just some preacher on the Northeast Side of Fort Wayne. We serve at the pleasure of the Most High!
Satan don’t want you to understand this. You see when you’re a some body in Heaven, hell knows who you are!
You don’t have to go around intimidated by the enemy. You don’t have to run from some devil. God is on your side and He’s given you power over all, someone say over all, the enemy.
You need to start telling the enemy to get his hands off your finances. Tell him to get his hands off your children. Tell him to get his hands off your body. Tell him to get out of the house and stay out!
God is on your side!
Finally, you can rest assured that God is on your side because God’s commitment to you.
As a child of God, you’re in a covenant relationship with God.
I shared Wednesday night, from the moment you accepted Christ invitation for salvation, God established a blood covenant with you that He will never break.
What is a covenant? A covenant is a compact, pledge, treaty, or an agreement. This is one of the most important words in the Bible because God keeps covenant with His people.
In the Bible and during the bible times, there were different kinds of covenants.
If you remember the story of Noah and the ark, God set a rainbow in the clouds.
Genesis 9:13 “I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
This rainbow signified God’s covenant with man that He would never destroy the earth again by flood.
Another kind of covenant that was made was salt covenant. When two people made an agreement they would take some salt out of the pouch that they carried and placed it in the salt pouch of those they made a covenant with and they would mix them together. There would never be anyway he could get his salt back, the covenant was established and could not be broken.
The strongest of these covenants is the blood covenant. The blood that God has used with us is not the blood of goats and bulls, it’s the blood of His own Son, Jesus Christ and God can never break His side of any established covenant. When you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, His shed blood became the sealing element of the covenant and there’s not a force on the earth, under the earth or above the earth that can break this covenant between you and the Heavenly Father.
Paul tells us what God ultimately wants to accomplish through this Blood covenant that He’s made with us. 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 says …
“16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
I don’t care what you’re facing this morning, or how dark it might seem. There’s a covenant between you and your God that is in force and there’s no devil big enough to break the blood covenant between you and God.
Stand with me this morning and say with me…
“If God be for us, who can be against us?”
