There is in our society today a disregard for God as our Creator. It is embarassing to folks to admit they our in need of God in our lives. We honor our independence. We are at the center of our world. WE NEED NO ONE. WE ARE IN TOTAL CHARGE.
We have one governor in America who considers any religion to only be a crutch for people. If we do acknowledge a Divine Being, it is only as it helps in promoting our selfish lifestyle. If we pray, it is only to promote our success. We want God on our team to help us win ballgames, lotteries, and to pursue a worldly, successful, self-promoting kind of
life.
In the 1960’s our American courts decided it was not proper to acknowledge God in our public schools. Evolution was the religion to be taught. The 10 commandments were considered old-fashion for our sophisticated culture. Prayer is now a politically incorrect thing to do at a football game.
America has forsaken the very God who has made America great! The ills of our country are only symptoms of a deeper problem. We have forsaken a holy God. The God of the Bible.
One of the proofs that show we have forsaken God, and we have dishonored God, and shown disrespect for God, is the way we treat HUMAN LIFE. We now have a low
regard for the dignity and respect for human life in America.
In Genesis 1:26-28
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth......”
When God made Adam, He made a unique human being. When God made Eve, He made a unique human being. Every human being in the world has a special uniqueness about
them that makes them very special. No one (even if you are an identical twin) is, or will ever be JUST LIKE YOU!
Psalm 139:14-16
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works: and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book al my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”
It is God Who has made us. Psalm 100:3 “Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves, we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
Satan entered the pages of history and because of His pure hatred for God, Satan has a purpose to destroy the beauty of God’s creation.
John 10:10 “The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
And just like Satan, when a society disregards God, and disrespects God, it will be revealed in the way society treats God’s creation. The crowning jewel of God’s creation was human beings. Satan has a vehement hatred for God’s special creation. A nation that does not acknowledge God and His laws will be subject to the ways of Satan. Satan’s way is only destruction.
The actions of people today reflect and show how much they have been influenced by Satan’s programs. Who would have thought years ago, we would be killing our own just for the sake of convenience?
On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court decision in Roe vs. Wade voted 7-2 to begin what has become the most grievous national sin in America...the murder of babies, the shedding of innocent blood. Over 40,000,000 babies have died. 4,000 die each day in America without a chance for any kind of a future.
When we no longer recognize a Divine Creator Who has made us,then that opens a can of worms. If God did not create us, and we are only biological accidents, and If God did not create the world we live in, but it is only the results of a big bang, and the settling of
cosmic dust particles....then why should we be concerned about the morality of taking the life of an unborn child. If we have no God to answer to, then we can do whatever society will allow. We won’t have to face God, if God does not exist. We own our bodies, and can do whatever we choose. We have the right to choose! If it is in my best interest, then abortion is okay. That is the feeling of the majority of American citizens today.
Is Abortion in our best interest? Has it made us better off? Are we a better America for allowing the murder of over 40 million babies? 4,000 each day? How would Americans react if say, we had 4000 military personnel being killed by enemy forces on a daily
basis? What would happen if Peter Jennings, or Dan Rather on the evening news reported the total killing of our soldiers this week amounted to 28,000? Now let’s look at who is playing in the Super Bowl? To jump from a mass killing to the topic of Super Bowl
seems to be very insensitive. It IS! America has grown very insensitive to this subject about Abortion. We have grown weary of hearing of it. We want to get on with our lives. We have a future to enjoy. The truth is, there are some others who would like to enjoy the future with us, if only they had the opportunity. I’m glad my mother didn’t believe in abortion, why look what the world would have missed!
We talk today about RIGHTS. Everybody has their rights. We even have “animal rights” advocates. We don’t respect however the rights of the unborn.
The former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop says in his thirty-five years in medicine he has “never seen one case where abortion was necessary to save a mother’s life.”

A leading abortionist was interviewed by a newsman about an event which took place. A man shot a woman who was carrying her unborn. Both the lady and her unborn died. The question was, “should the man be found guilty for two murders?” The response was
“only if she wanted her baby.” How TWISTED AND PERVERTED is the thinking of people today.
Has American gotten better because of the right to choose? I don’t think so!
The right to choose.....how about the story of a youngster while at the school prom goes
into the bathroom to deliver her baby. She leaves the baby with her boyfriend who finds a dumpster to discard the unwanted child. THAT’S CALLED THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE!
You’ve heard the stories. There are so many graphic and violent stories which are unfit for young listeners to hear this morning.
Is America better off? Some say, “it’s not a human being until it is born.” What does the Bible say? See Luke 1:41
“And it came to pass, that, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped
in her womb.....” Sounds like life to me!
Dr. Bernard Nathanson was a leading abortionist in America. He performed numerous abortions in New York. In 1972 ultrasound was first becoming an available tool for medical uses. He used ultrasound to examine what went on during an abortion. He became convicted, and convinced that it was wrong after watching the ultrasound of an abortion procedure.
He made a film called, “Silent Scream” which shows the violence in the womb during an abortion. Dr.Nathanson became a Christian and now supports the ProLife movement. One of the things that bothers Dr. Nathanson is the almost silence from American pulpits. When I did some research to see who was writing any messages on the subject, there are very few who are. When I think of TV preachers, some very rarely will speak on this subject.
This is worth repeating....Churches should be hospitals for sinners, because that’s what
we all are. Many churches are like courtrooms. People sit in judgment on others. In the church there should be plenty of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and an atmosphere of encouragement. Anyone coming to our churches should know that there is forgiveness in Jesus. We should reach out to folks with a Christ-like Spirit to help them.
Many folks don’t realize that there is life in the womb. On Day 22...the heart is beating and on Day 28..the blood in the veins of the baby is different from that of the mother.
Abortion is getting worse. Now we have what’s called partial-birth abortion.
What’s partial-birth abortion? First,the feet of the baby is delivered first, the baby is two-thirds delivered and then at the base of the skull, puncture and inserted into the skull a suction device to remove the brain matter. One nurse tells of observing the procedure, the baby was kicking and showed all normal signs of movement, but after the abortion doctor inserted the suction device, the baby went limp. She walked away, and has never been a part of the abortion business again.
Many of the people who are against abortion today, are those who have witnessed and participated in the abortion process. They can’t sleep, they know it is wrong!
Our government has the responsibility to protect human life. Two times the United States Congress passed legislation banning partial-birth abortion, but President Clinton vetoed the bill both times. Let’s pray our new president will sign the bill this time and put an end to this barbaric procedure.
In 1988 president George Bush, banned all federal funding of transplant of fetal tissue from induced abortions. On January 22, 1993 the first week in office, president Bill Clinton lifted that ban. What has happened?
According to senator Bob Smith of Vermont, “Abortion clinics and wholesalers are making a killing, literally, off the sale of human baby parts.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1) To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2) A time to be born, and a time to die;....
There is in God’s eyes a time to be born, and in God’s own timing there is a time to die. Man because of his greed, his selfish ways has intruded into that natural process of being born and the natural process of dying. Now there are advocates and it is legal in some
countries to induce the dying process because a loved one is not themselves anymore. They would have wanted it this way. It is in the best interest of all family members. They call it mercy-killing, or self-assisted suicide.
Also in that Ecclesiastes’ passage in verse 7 a time to keep silence, and a time to speak...
I believe it is a time to speak. The value of human life in America depends upon if you are rich, if you are conveniently wanted, if you are good looking, if you are not a great burden on people.
Several years ago eight student nurses were viciously murdered in Chicago. The following day a commentator was discussing the tragedy on the radio. He said, “The
thing that makes this tragedy much worse is that all eight girls were so attractive!” Can you believe it? The girls were more valuable because of their beauty, making their loss more tragic. Today in the United States you are assign worth based upon what you wear,
your personal appearance, and your personal possessions and wealth.
God values Human Life! Life is sacred! When we have no regard for God, we soon show no regard for human life.
A professor in a college ethics class presented his students with a problem. He said, “A man has syphilis and his wife has tuberculosis. They have had four children: one has died, the other three have what is considered to be a terminal illness. The mother is
pregnant. What do you recommend?” After a spirited discussion, the majority of the class voted that she abort the child. “Fine,” said the professor. “You’ve just killed Beethoven.”

Some say we need abortion to control population. Truth is, if you put the entire world’s population in the same population density as New York City, you could put the whole world in the state of Texas. All 6 billion people! We are not in a population
explosion problem...if anything the population of the world is decreasing.
What we do have is a few greedy people wanting the entire world for their own.
Good News!
There is a better alternative! There are folks in line to adopt today. Thank God for the ministries including Southern Baptist that support women who carry their babies to term and their babies are placed into the arms of a loving couple.
Thank God for the ministries that reach out to women who suffer with post-abortion syndrome! They help to deal with the depression of losing a child.
Thank God we have forgiveness, God forgives, and God heals and God can restore broken lives. Many who champion the prolife cause in our country were once the victim of an abortion.
JOHN 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The Abortion Issue will not go away. We must speak on it. Even though it is unpleasant, we must be sensitive to the issue.
God values human life. That’s why Jesus died on the Cross!
