Summary: This sermon is for those who did not or would not go when God told you to go.

“JUST GO”

Ex. 3:7:11

And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. 11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?

4:11-17

And the LORD said unto him, who hath made man's mouth? Or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. 13 And he said, O my LORD, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. 14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. 16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. 17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

Introduction

During this period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites were still in slavery and continued to cry out, and their cry went up to God because of their bondage. And God heard their cry, and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites, and was concerned about them. So He sent Moses to Egypt to bring them out of their bondage, and Moses did not think he would be the right person for the job. He began to make all kinds of “Excuses”, but when God tells you to go, “JUST GO”. Now let me remind you, Moses was sent to go and tell Pharaoh to simply let God’s people go, not to go and try to bring them out himself. This message was not one of reasoning or bargaining.

1. Now maybe Moses thought he was not WORTHY to go: (Stick)

Moses asked, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh…” v. 3:11

• Moses came from a nation of slaves and might have considered himself unworthy, or even less then the others.

• Moses did not know who he was or how he was going to bring the slaves out of bondage?

• He thought because he killed a man he was not worthy. Webster define this word as;

KILL – To deprive of life; cause the death of something.

MURDER – The unlawful, malicious, and intentional killing of a human being by another.

God‘s answer was very simple, “I will be with you”. We all sometime fill that we are not worthy of one thing or another, but when God tells you to go, “JUST GO”!

2. Now maybe Moses thought he was not ABLE to go, because of his handicap: ...v. 4:10 (A Slar)

He said he could not speak well enough to go:

But God reminded him: “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go, and I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.

3. Now my final point is, after all that God had told him, Moses simply DID NOT WANT TO GO: …v. 4:13 (A Savior) He thought he have to do it all by himself.

I guess like many others, when we run out of excuses, we can do nothing, but tell the truth. Now the truth was out, and God grew impatience with Moses and it became evidence God’s anger was kindled against Moses in – Ex. 4:14-16. Is not Aaron the Levites thy brother? I know that he can speak well. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; and I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do and what to say. JUST GO!

My sisters and brothers, WE ARE THE SAME WAY TODAY! God tells us to go to this place or that place. Go here or go over there, but we don’t go. We simple do what we want to do. We need to stop making excuses and JUST GO.

• We will make any and every excuse why we cannot to go, but we will go everywhere else and then say we didn’t have the time to do it.

• We really would like God to send someone else instead of us, but we want the blessing.

• We really don’t want to do what God has called us to do, but we want his favor in our life.

But my sisters and brothers, the anger of the Lord is kindled against those who do not live up to their calling or to their promises! The Bible say in Matt. 5:36-37 - And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one. If you know you have been making excuses to the Lord, you need to stop, and JUST GO! Repent, and stop cursing yourself. For the good Lord giveth and the good Lord taketh away.

In Closing:

We know the rest of the story with Moses, how he answered the call, and went to Egypt. With the help of God, he delivered the Israelites out of bondage. But what of us, what will be the rest of your story?

• Shall we heed the call to preach the gospel to the lost?

• Or will we not go and one day suffer the wrath of God? Only time will tell, but I pray that I encouraged you all today to go and not make excuses. For if you were told to go and do something, no matter what it was? If you said you was going to do something, no matter what it was. God is giving you another chance to get it right, JUST GO!

* If you know that you have Backslidden, and need to go back to church? JUST GO!

* If you are one of those that say they go to this church or are a member of that church, and you know deep in your heart that you haven’t step feet in that place for more than 3 month. JUST GO!

* Perhaps you feel that you have failed God when he told you to go to that small church and preach, but you went to that large church to preach instead, because you knew the money was going to be better? God is giving you another chance to get it right, JUST GO!

The Bible says, God is forgiving and just, he will give you another chance, if you JUST GO! The Lord is looking for a people that will go and not make excuses, he wants us to follow his lead and go inspite of the obstacles that may be in your path. You may not want to go, but you know you should, you know you have to go. God wants you to walk by faith and not by sight. SO, JUST GO!

AMEN!
