Son of God
MT 26:63 But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, n the Son of God."
MT 26:64 "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
CS Lewis said that either Jesus Christ is
“A liar, a lunatic, or He is Lord” If we are to believe the gospel accounts of the life of Christ then in them we find that Jesus was well aware of who His Father is. As a small boy of twelve years old at His first Passover he lingered behind after his parents had left for home. When his worried parents got up with him he simply answered them “Didn’t you think that I would be in My Fathers’ House?” Luke 2:49 It was precisely that consciousness’ that came to Jesus when he was baptized by John, “Behold my Son in whom I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11
In the temptations Satan began his attack by questioning Jesus,
“If you are the Son of God…” knowing that if he can introduce doubt to Jesus it would grow and fester in his mind so that he would not be able to go on. Then again as Jesus hung on the cross Satan took the opportunity to question Him one last time. The thief hanging at His side says to him If you are the Son of God save yourself and us…”Matt. 27:40
But the truth of the matter is that Jesus remains on the cross. In everything that he endured and went through He remained on the cross. It was in complete confidence that Jesus died, in the Luken account His last words were “Father into your hands I commit my Spirit…”Luke 23:46.
Paul tells us that it was through His sacrificial death the God brings us to Himself Rom. 5:10
Rom 8:32 “God did not spare his own Son but surrendered him for us all”
It is equally consistent in the thoughts of John
1JN 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all n sin.
1JN 4:10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
There is not a more intimate relationship than one between Father and Son.
God expressed all of His love for His creation by sending His Son.
It was through His Son that the creation sees the Father.
Oh the love that the Father has lavished onto us.
