Renew a Right Spirit within me…
Ps 51:1-10
51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Expound on the situation of King David…
He was really repentant for the ordeal, and he cries out for true inner restoration. “renew a RIGHT SPIRIT within me”
David started out with a RIGHT Spirit, and through the course of success and promotions he forgot about the very thing that God honored him for… His right Spirit
God does not use you because of your abilities, or he does favor you because of your talents, he blesses a right spirit.
When Samuel the prophet was commanded to choose a king, he made it clear that God looks upon the heart not…the outward.
David was crying out for a RIGHT SPIRIT
We might wonder, does it really matter, yes it does, it could make you or break you in your journey of faith and expectation of the blessings of God.
First let us consider the term Renew – to Rebuild it is the process of building
Def: Right Spirit – To stand proper in spirit –
If we are to proclaim VICTORY to the Defeated nations, we must have a Right Victorious Spirit.
In other words, to the preacher, if you are going to preach salvation, make sure you are saved yourself.
Mindsets to consider
just because things are done right, does not constitute a Right Spirit
nor does correct theology, or biblical understanding.
Your gossip might be facts, but what kind of spirit is that?
What is your motive?
You may operate in spiritual gifts…
1 Cor 13:1-3
13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
You may seem to accomplish much, but without a right spirit you accomplish nothing.
We shall all stand before the ‘Judgment Seat of Christ”
1 Cor 3:11-15
11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Our motives will be tested with fire, our inward personal agendas will be monitored, God looks upon the heart! We work so hard to look right on the outside, let contend to look right on the inside.
We can not even estimate or calculate our losses due to a wrong spirit -
How we respond to offences determines our victory or defeat.
It is easy to proclaim and declare the scriptures of Faith, Victory and blessings, but what does our heart really say?
You can say you are the head not the tail all day long, but what does your heart say. We must contend for a right spirit, we cannot experience victory with a wrong corrupted spirit.
How do you respond to…
Other people younger than you in the Lord being promoted over you?
Other saints of God being used mightily even if you feel they are not as HOLY as you are?
When other saints of God are talking about you?
What if you want to testify, or sing or give a word from the Lord? How do you react?
What if you leave a church? Or people leave your ministry, you were wronged, and mistreated. How is your Spirit.
What others do to you is their business, but how it effects you is your business.
I have met many ministers of God who have been corrupted by jealousy, competition, and others leaving their ministries. They have become bitter and controlling, walking in fear and suspicion. If you desire to see your ministry or personal life be blessed. Then maintain a right spirit.
Phil 1:12-18 – Paul the apostle’s maintaining a right Spirit.
12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;
14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from good will:
16 The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;
17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
Acts 20:22-24
22 And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
1 Cor 15:57-58
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
YOU ARE FREE NOW WALK AND REMAIN FREE. (Free Spirit)
Im in this for the Lord, not my ministry…
Ps 78:6-8
6 That the generation to come might know them,
The children who would be born,
That they may arise and declare them to their children,
7 That they may set their hope in God,
And not forget the works of God,
But keep His commandments;
8 And may not be like their fathers,
A stubborn and rebellious generation,
A generation that did not set its heart aright,
And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
NKJV
1 Kings 15:1-7
15:1 In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Abijam became king over Judah. 2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maachah the granddaughter of Abishalom. 3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David. 4 Nevertheless for David’s sake the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, by setting up his son after him and by establishing Jerusalem; 5 because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite. 6 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
NKJV
Ps 78:37
37 For their heart was not steadfast with Him,
Nor were they faithful in His covenant.
NKJV
Acts 11:21-25
22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
NKJV
Josh 14:13-15
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.
14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
15 And the name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war.
