Turning Vision into Reality
Proverbs 16:3
I know that I have told you the story of the president of
the coke company and how he had a vision for coke
when he took over the company years ago, and that of
course was that every person in this world would have
the ability to hold a coke in their hands. Now that is a
pretty lofty dream. And yet if we were to travel the
world we see coke machines in some of the most outer
regions of this world. Small villages that have grass
huts and a coke machine. It is great to have a vision or
a dream where we want to be. What if the president of
coke went no farther than the dream? What if he said
my dream is to have a coke in everyone’s hand, and then
turned around and said won’t be long now. He had to
establish a plan for the vision to be fulfilled. Without
the plan, which included marketing and surveys and free
samples of coke, his dream would have remained just
that a dream. But once he set the plan in motion then
they goals and objectives to fulfill.
Last week I talked about the vision that God has given
for this church and body of believers. God wants us to
do some mighty works and impact this community for
Jesus. We can look at that vision and say “wow, some
day it is going happen.” and guess what if that is all we
do then we will always say some day it’s going to
happen.
You see somewhere along the line we have to take that
vision and turn it into reality. At some point we have to
come up with a way to get from point a to point b. God
we are here and you want us over here. Now how do
we go about that?
Ex. 24:15-18
1. To receive a vision from God we must seek him.
Moses spent 40 days and nights in God’s presence.
Why?
Because he knew that God had something for his people
and he wanted to get every bit of it.
The story is told of Franklin Roosevelt, who often
endured long receiving lines at the White House. He
complained that no one really paid any attention to what
was said. One day, during a reception, he decided to try
an experiment. To each person who passed down the
line and shook his hand, he murmured, "I murdered my
grandmother this morning." The guests responded with
phrases like, "Marvelous! Keep up the good work. We
are proud of you. God bless you, sir." It was not till the
end of the line, while greeting the ambassador from
Bolivia, that his words were actually heard. Nonplussed,
the ambassador leaned over and whispered, "I’m sure
she had it coming."
I said last week that the reason churches die is because
there is no vision for that church. It is the responsibility
of the spiritual leader of an assembly to get into the
presence of the Lord Almighty and listen for what he
has to say. But all of us must do so to hear God for our
individual lives.
“Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these will be
added unto you.”
Moses spent time with God and God first gave the
vision to him.
Verse 25:8
In other words here s the vision for my people, make a
sanctuary for me , and I will dwell among them.
God will always give us the vision first!
Noah , Gen. 6
Joshua
Remember the vision is where we see God wants us to
be. So the vision to Moses was I will dwell with my
people when you build me a sanctuary.
Now if God had stopped there. What would the
sanctuary have looked like if left up to Moses. The
same as the ark if left up to Noah.
God gave Moses the vision first then he said:
Verse 25:9
In other words here is the plan, here is how you are
going to get from here to here.
We see now everything is layed out for Moses.
The ark, the table, the lampstand, the tabernacle,......
What God did was give the children of Israel everything
that they needed to do to turn the vision into reality.
I believe we are at a place where God has spoken the
vision and now he wants us to take the plan he has layed
out so that we can turn our vision into reality.
Pass out the cards: Explain cards.
read the cards from the back.
What we have here is goals for us to accomplish by the
end of 2000. What God is doing is moving us from the
dreaming stage to an action stage.
I want you to take these cards every day and pray for
these goals. As God what you can do help reach these
goals.
Can we do these goals?
I am glad you asked that question.
Exodus 40:33-35
You see when Moses took God’s plan and executed it,
the end result was the vision that God had given him, I
will dwell among you.
I believe that as we commit ourselves completely to
God then our plans will succeed.
Close with praise to God!
