Summary: Those who walk with God often face opposition ....

From the beginning of Scripture, one truth stands firm, those who walk with God often face opposition from those driven by fear, pride, or evil intent. Yet alongside every scheme, the Bible reveals something greater—God’s sovereignty, His justice, and His unwavering protection over His people.

1. Pharaoh’s Decree — When Power Turns Against the Innocent

In Exodus 1:15–22, Pharaoh commanded the killing of Hebrew baby boys out of fear that Israel would grow too strong. This was not just political strategy—it was a direct assault on God’s covenant people.

But even in this darkness, God was at work. The courage of the Hebrew midwives preserved life, and through this very oppression, Moses—the future deliverer—was raised up. What was meant for destruction became the setup for divine deliverance. This reminds us that no human authority can override God’s plan.

2. Haman’s Plot — When Evil is Carefully Planned

In the book of Esther (chapters 3–7), Haman crafted a calculated plan to annihilate the Jews. His scheme was strategic, legal, and seemingly unstoppable.

Yet God moved behind the scenes. Through Esther’s courage and divine timing, the plot was exposed, and Haman fell into the very trap he prepared for others. This account reveals that even the most sophisticated evil cannot outmaneuver God. He sees every hidden agenda and brings justice at the appointed time.

3. Saul’s Pursuit of David — When Jealousy Drives Destruction

King Saul’s relentless pursuit of David (1 Samuel 18–31) was fueled by jealousy and insecurity. Though David was anointed by God, he became a target of relentless attacks.

David’s response is striking—he refused to retaliate or harm Saul, even when given the opportunity. Instead, he trusted God to vindicate him. This teaches that when we are under unjust attack, restraint and trust in God’s justice are more powerful than revenge.

4. Nabal’s Mistreatment of David — When Foolishness Breeds Harm

In 1 Samuel 25, Nabal (not Ghereshom) responded harshly and disrespectfully to David, rejecting kindness with arrogance. His behavior nearly provoked violence.

However, Abigail’s wisdom intervened, preventing bloodshed. God later dealt with Nabal directly. This moment shows that not every conflict should be fought personally—sometimes God steps in to handle what we release into His hands.

5. Jezebel’s Threat Against Elijah — When Intimidation Targets God’s Servants

After a great victory, Elijah fled when Jezebel threatened his life (1 Kings 19:1–3). Even a powerful prophet felt fear and exhaustion under wicked threats.

Yet God did not abandon him. Instead, He provided rest, nourishment, and renewed purpose. This account reveals a deeper truth: spiritual attacks often come after spiritual victories, but God sustains His servants even in their weakest moments.

6. The Pharisees’ Opposition to Jesus — When Truth Confronts Darkness

In Matthew 12:1–14, the Pharisees opposed Jesus, not because He was wrong, but because His truth exposed their hypocrisy. Their schemes were rooted in pride and control.

Despite their resistance, Jesus continued His mission with authority and compassion. Ultimately, their opposition led to the cross—but even that became the pathway to salvation. What appeared to be victory for evil became its ultimate defeat.

7. The Sanhedrin’s Plot Against the Apostles — When Faith Faces Persecution

In Acts 4:1–31, Peter and John were confronted, threatened, and pressured to remain silent. The religious authorities sought to suppress the message of Christ.

Instead of retreating, the believers prayed for boldness. God responded by filling them with power, and the message spread even further. This shows that persecution does not stop God’s work—it often accelerates it.

A Lasting Truth

Across all these accounts, a pattern emerges:

Wicked schemes are real.

Opposition can be intense and personal.

But God’s authority always prevails.

No plan formed against God’s people escapes His notice. Every hidden motive is seen. Every injustice is accounted for. And every attack is ultimately subject to His power.

Romans 8:31 declares: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

This is not a denial of opposition—it is a declaration of outcome. The presence of God outweighs every threat, every scheme, and every enemy.

Always stay vigilant, but not fearful. Remain faithful, not bitter. Trust that God is not only aware of what you face—He is actively working through it.

What others intend for harm, God can transform for purpose, protection, and victory.
