As we require and expect lots of things from God each day it is important for us to understand that there are certain things that God also requires from His people. He is a Loving God filled with compassion and mercy for His people. He also has some expectations from us, which we are gonna look into in the next few lines.
Deuteronomy 10:12 says,
1. We need to fear Him.
The fear of God follows a lot of amazing promises and blessings. Many a times we tend to take God lightly and casually. Sometimes fear of man surpasses the fear of God. It is stated that the fear of man is a snare but the fear of God is a fountain of life. The Bible says that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom. The Bible talks about numerous blessings that follow them that fear Him.
2. To walk in all His Ways.
It is the Will of God that we walk in all His Ways. His Ways are higher than ours and His plans greater than ours. How do we walk in all His Ways? In accordance to His written Word. The Psalmist King David said, "Your Word is a Lamp unto my feet and Light unto my path." We have to align our lives with that of His Word. Obedience to God and His Word plays a very important role in one's life, simply because Obedience is better than sacrifice. God loves the doers of His Word. Let us go the extra mile to be obedient to His Word.
3. To Love Him.
This is Awesome. We need to be lovers of God. We have to love God. There is no comparison to His Love. None can love us the way God loves us. Jeremiah 31:3 says that He has loved us with an everlasting love. All that we can do is love him. John 3:16 says that He loved us so much that He sacrifices His own son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
There is an old song that says like this. Oh How I love Jesus (3)
Because He first loved me. His love is incomparable. All that we can do is love Him. He wants us to love Him. He deserves our love.
4. To serve the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.
Serving God is a privilege. There is nothing greater than serving God in this world. It is His Will that we serve Him in our own capacity. All that God looks at is not our capability but our availability. By serving Him in whatever little ways actually pleases Him. Serving God does not mean preaching the Word alone. In whatever ways that could glorify His Name and build His Kingdom is service unto Him. Let us find opportunities in serving Him in whatever ways we could.
5. To keep the Commandments of the Lord.
As mentioned earlier, God loves obedient people. Obedience goes beyond sacrifice. God desires that we follow His Word and keep His Commandments. The Word is meant to be read and applied to our day to day lives.
God bless you abundantly !!!
