THE POWER OF THE CROSS
1 Corinthians 1:18 says,
“The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Today everyone wants power — power to succeed, influence, and prove themselves strong. But true power is not in position or miracles alone. True power lies in the Cross.
What Does the Cross Do?
A. The Cross Breaks the Wall
The cross broke down the wall separating God and fallen humanity. It bridged the great gap caused by sin and opened the way back to the Father.
B. The Cross Brings Peace
Through the cross, peace is brought to the human soul and spirit. What was broken within us is restored.
C. The Cross Defeats Sin and Darkness
Colossians 2:14–15 tells us that our sins — the record that stood against us — were nailed to the cross. Christ triumphed over principalities and powers, openly defeating them.
D. The Cross Unites Us with God
The cross unites us with the Father and the Holy Spirit. It brings us into fellowship with God.
E. The Cross Makes Us the Church
Through the cross, we become members of the body of Christ — His Church.
The cross is our reconciliation.
The cross is our peace.
The cross is our victory.
The cross is our unity in Him.
So do not seek worldly power.
Seek the power of the Cross — and live in His victory every day.
Amen.
