Summary: Living under God’s authority means surrendering personal will to His divine rule,

INTRODUCTION

Living under God’s authority means surrendering personal will to His divine rule, resulting in a life of purpose, power, and protection.

Authority is not about control—it is about covering.

Many believers want

• power without submission,

• blessing without alignment, and

• victory without obedience.

The centurion amazed Jesus not because of his rank, but because he understood a divine principle:

Authority flows to those who live under authority.

ILLUSTRATION

One evening, a father and his small child were walking home. Suddenly it started raining heavily.

The father opened an umbrella and told the child, “Come close, stay under it.”

The child wanted to walk freely and stepped outside the umbrella. Within seconds, he was completely wet. The father didn’t get angry—he simply said, “If you want protection, you must stay under the umbrella.”

Many believers love God, but they want freedom without submission.

Protection is found only under authority.

An umbrella only protects you when you stand under it. If you step out from under it, the rain does not stop—it soaks you.

Many believers are asking, “Why am I facing so many attacks?”

It may not be because God is not faithful—but because they have stepped out from under His authority.

Protection and power are found only under authority.

1. AUTHORITY BEGINS WITH SUBMISSION (James 4:7)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.

You cannot resist the devil until you first submit to God.

Rebellion breaks spiritual covering; submission releases spiritual authority.

• Adam lost authority through disobedience.

• Jesus walked in authority because He lived in total submission.

ILLUSTRATION

The Railway Signal

A train driver shared once:

“I don’t drive the train by my feelings. I obey the signal.”

Even if the track looks empty, when the signal is red, he stops—because he knows lives depend on obedience.

Obedience may look slow, but it saves lives.

JESUS WALKED IN AUTHORITY BECAUSE HE LIVED UNDER AUTHORITY

John 5:19” Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

2. AUTHORITY FLOWS THROUGH ORDER (Romans 13:1)

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God”.

“There is no authority except from God.”

God works through divine order, not chaos.

When we:

• Reject leadership

• Despise correction

• Ignore spiritual covering

We step outside God’s protection.

Psalm 133:1–3

Unity under God-ordained authority releases commanded blessing.

ILLUSTRATION:

The Village Well

In a village, everyone used water from one well. One man decided to dig his own well anywhere he liked. He found no water. The village elder said “Water flows where there is order and wisdom, not where pride chooses.”

God’s blessing flows through His order.

3. POWER WITHOUT AUTHORITY IS DANGEROUS (Acts 19:13–16)

They used the name of Jesus without submission.

Illustration:

The Borrowed Uniform

A boy once wore his father’s police uniform and tried to stop traffic. No one listened. Some even laughed.

Uniform without authority is only clothing.

The name of Jesus without submission is only words.

4. AUTHORITY BRINGS PROTECTION AND PEACE (Psalm 91:1, Matthew 11:29)

Psalm 91:1: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Matthew 11:29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

STORY :

The House Under Construction

A man lived inside his house while it was still under construction. Every day bricks fell, dust flew, and it was unsafe. Once the structure was completed under an engineer’s plan, the house became secure.

Life without God’s authority is always unsafe.

Authority is not bondage—it is safety.

DECLARATION

“Lord, I come back under Your authority.

I submit my life, family, work, and ministry.

Cover me again. Lead me again. Use me again.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Conclusion :

The safest place on earth is not where you want to be— it is where God has placed you under His authority.
