It is very important to know that it is the will of God that we grow in His Kingdom. Progress in the Kingdom of God is our right. It only comes with an obedient heart, a willing heart and a learning heart. I always say that Instruction from the Word leads to Construction in our lives. We always need to be good Students of God's Word.
Paul the Apostle, in writing to the Colossian Church urges them a few instructions. I am sure that even as we inculcate these instructions in our lives we are going to see a definite change in our lives. We are gonna look into those few points and edify ourselves in the Kingdom of God.
Colossians 2:6, 7 says, "As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving."
1. Walk in Him: The moment we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior we need to walk in Him. Walking in Christ is a very important factor for every Child of God. If we do not focus on walking in Him we may endanger our lives. The most immediate step after salvation is walking in accordance to the Word of God. How do we walk in Him. Walking in Him is walking in accordance to the Scriptures. Read the Word to know the God of the Word. Read the Word to know the Will of God. Our lives have to be in alignment with the Word.
2. Rooted: There is a beautiful saying that says, "Our Root determines our Fruit." Unless our foundation is right we cannot expect a good stand in our spiritual lives. If we are not founded upon God and His Word we cannot expect ourselves to stand in God. We have a mandate to be founded upon God and His Word simply because our root determines our fruit. the stability of a building depends upon its foundation. We need to introspect our spiritual lives and see if we are on the right foundation. If we are on the wrong foundation we have to rebuild on the right one. Many people are built on men and women of God and also on the Prophets. The Word of God and He Himself needs to be our Strong Foundation.
3. Built: Like I mentioned earlier, everyone has a right to build himself or herself. If we do not build or stopped building then there is a serious issue and needs to be dealt accordingly. It is the will of God that we be built up in Him. The more we are focused on God the more develop the urge to grow. He wants us that we be built in Him. We need to have time and patience to grow and build in this busy world. Let us take a determination to build ourselves.
4. Established in the FAITH: Faith plays a very important role in one's life. In fact, Faith is the foundation of our spiritual lives. Paul the Apostle emphasizes on being established in the faith. Faith is of no value unless it is operated upon. Very importantly, Faith with conditions is no faith at all. the more we are connected to God and His nature it fuels our faith. Many people of God who did great things for God were people of Faith. The size of faith which the Lord Jesus Christ mentioned is the size of a mustard seed. Faith has the ability and the capability to move mountains. Let us ask God to help us to grow in our faith.
5. Abounding in it with Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving is one of the greatest thing that we could offer to God. It is also mentioned in 1 Thess 5:18 tells us to give thanks in all circumstances. Irrespective of our situations and circumstances it is important for us to understand that we need to give thanks to God in all circumstances. The Bible does not ask us to give thanks for all circumstances but in all circumstances.
