THE TOUCH OF GOD’S GLORY

Joel T. Bernardino – February 14, 2026

WHY DO WE NEED HIS TOUCH?

God’s touch makes us come alive again.

Revival is simply this: getting personally right with God.

And the truth is—we need revival again and again.

Psalm 85:6, “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?”

We desperately need the touch of God…

• When our love for Him grows cold.

• When entertainment replaces prayer.

• When we forget eternity and neglect the lost.

• When we have time for everything—except God.

• When our faith feels dry, joyless, and routine.

• When worship no longer moves us.

• When we stop believing Him for the impossible.

• When money and success matter more than our souls.

When these things begin to happen, we don’t need better programs—we need His touch.

HOW CAN WE EXPERIENCE HIS GLORY?

1. RECOGNIZE YOUR NEED FOR GOD’S TOUCH

Jesus walked this earth for 33 years. For three of those years, His ministry was in full force.

Imagine living during that time. God in the flesh was walking between Galilee and Jerusalem. People could literally see Him, hear Him, and be touched by Him. Miracles were happening everywhere.

Note: One of the greatest mysteries of the Gospels is not how many were healed—it’s how many missed out.

God the Son was walking among them, ready and willing to touch lives. But many did not receive.

Why?

Because only those who recognized their need came to Him.

Who received His touch?

• The sick who admitted they were sick.

• The sinners who admitted their sin.

• The weak who admitted their weakness.

In Luke 7:21, we read that Jesus healed many who had diseases and gave sight to the blind. But notice—those who were healed were those who exposed their need.

The prostitute who washed Jesus’ feet with her tears received forgiveness because she did not hide her sin.

The leper in Luke 5:12–13 fell at Jesus’ feet and said,

“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

He exposed his shame publicly. And Jesus touched him.

If he had stayed hidden because of embarrassment, he would have stayed unhealed.

Who missed out?

• The rich young ruler trusted his wealth (Matthew 19).

• The religious leaders trusted their righteousness.

• The Pharisees claimed they could see.

In John 9:41 Jesus said,

“If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”

Pride prevents the touch of God.

Jesus said,

“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”

If we admit we are spiritually sick, the Great Physician is ready.

Church, revival begins when we say:

“Lord, I am weak. I am dry. I am needy. I cannot do this without You.”

2. EARNESTLY SEEK GOD’S TOUCH

Some recognized their need—but only a few were desperate enough to fight for it.

The Two Blind Men – Matthew 20:29–34

Two blind men heard Jesus was passing by and cried out:

“Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

The crowd told them to be quiet.

But they shouted louder.

They refused to let Jesus pass them by.

That’s desperation.

The crowd followed Jesus—but the blind men encountered Him.

The woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20) pushed through the crowd to touch His garment. She had tried doctors. Nothing worked. But she refused to miss her moment.

If we want God’s touch, we cannot remain passive.

• When was the last time you prayed with tears?

• When was the last time you wrestled in prayer?

• When was the last time you refused to give up until God moved?

Sometimes even “comfortable Christians” may discourage spiritual hunger. But if we truly want Him, we must cry out louder.

God moves through a place—but only those who truly seek Him are transformed.

3. EMPTY YOURSELF AND EXPECT GOD TO FILL YOU

Jesus’ miracles produced different reactions.

Not everyone celebrated His touch.

Three Reactions to God’s Glory

1) The Religious Were Offended

Jesus healed on the Sabbath.

He ate with sinners.

He exposed hypocrisy.

Those who thought they had God figured out were offended.

When religion replaces relationship, the move of God feels threatening.

2) The Curious Walked Away

After feeding 5,000, many followed Jesus for miracles.

But when His teaching became hard, most walked away.

They wanted blessing—but not surrender.

They wanted provision—but not transformation.

3) The Desperate Received

In Mark 8:23, Jesus healed a blind man by spitting on his eyes.

That sounds offensive.

But the desperate man wasn’t offended—he just wanted to see.

Sometimes God moves in ways we don’t expect.

- He may use people we don’t like.

- He may place us in uncomfortable situations.

- He may break our pride.

- He may change our plans.

If we are full of pride, comfort, or religion—we will be offended.

But if we are empty and desperate—we will receive.

God can only fill what is empty.

CONCLUSION

2 Chronicles 7:14, “If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”

Are you ready for God’s touch?

Are we truly desperate—or just comfortable?

God’s touch will:

• Make you excited to worship again.

• Fill you with joy in serving.

• Deepen your love for the lost.

• Strengthen your love for one another.

• Increase your spiritual anointing.

Revival does not begin with programs.

It begins with humility.

When we empty ourselves—

He fills us with His glory.
