INTRODUCTION
The Law of Seedtime and Harvest is one of the fundamental principles God set in creation. It demonstrates that life operates by spiritual and natural laws: whatever is sown will eventually be reaped. This principle is unchanging and applies to work, finances, relationships, and spiritual life.
Many believers fail to prosper because they misunderstand the principle, sowing carelessly, expecting results without investment, or sowing in disobedience. Understanding this law ensures that effort, diligence, and faithfulness are rewarded by God in due season.
This sermon teaches that sowing strategically, with purpose and obedience, unlocks supernatural multiplication, provision, and divine favour. God honours the seed that is planted according to His principles.
1. SEEDTIME PRECEDES HARVEST
Every harvest begins with a deliberate act of sowing.
a) Sowing is the starting point (Galatians 6:7)
What you plant determines what you will gather; sowing is an investment in the future.
b) Law of consistency (Ecclesiastes 11:6)
Continual sowing ensures that harvests are sustained and multiplied over time.
c) Sowing requires faith (2 Corinthians 9:6)
The seed may not yield instantly, but diligence produces an abundant return.
d) Harvest is guaranteed in God’s timing (Genesis 8:22)
Just as seasons are fixed, sowing produces fruit in God’s appointed time.
Biblical Example:
Joseph’s consistent effort and wise stewardship in Egypt sowed seeds that led to national and personal blessing during famine (Genesis 41:46-49).
2. THE QUALITY OF SEED DETERMINES THE HARVEST
The nature of what is sown affects the results received.
a) Good seed produces good fruit (Matthew 13:23)
Obedient, faithful, and generous sowing yields abundant, lasting returns.
b) Carelessness limits results (Proverbs 11:24)
Half-hearted effort or sowing wrongly may produce little or no harvest.
c) Intentionality matters (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Giving or sowing with a cheerful heart multiplies results.
d) Spiritual seed produces spiritual harvest (Galatians 6:8)
Sowing righteousness and God’s Word yields eternal life and blessings.
Biblical Example:
The Israelites sowed crops, and Joseph’s stored grain became abundant for the entire nation during famine (Genesis 41:48-49).
3. THE TIMING OF HARVEST IS DIVINE
Patience and faith are essential while waiting for results.
a) God controls the seasons (Genesis 8:22)
The harvest comes according to God’s timetable, not human expectation.
b) Perseverance ensures fruitfulness (Galatians 6:9)
Do not grow weary in sowing; at the right time, reaping comes.
c) Spiritual harvest aligns with obedience (James 5:7-8)
Patience and steadfastness yield spiritual and material rewards.
d) God multiplies in due season (2 Corinthians 9:10-11)
Seed sown according to God’s principles brings both increase and thanksgiving.
Biblical Example:
Hannah sowed prayers for a child over years, and God eventually granted Samuel, demonstrating the timing of divine harvest (1 Samuel 1:10-20).
4. BELIEVERS MUST SOW STRATEGICALLY AND FAITHFULLY
Harvest is the result of intentional action, alignment with God’s will, and persistence.
a) Spiritual and material sowing (Philippians 4:15-17)
Sowing can include finances, ministry, acts of kindness, or spiritual work.
b) Faith activates multiplication (Mark 4:20)
The believer’s faith ensures that seeds grow beyond natural expectation.
c) Avoid delaying sowing (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2)
Hesitation or procrastination delays harvest and blessing.
d) Stewardship ensures sustainable harvest (Luke 16:10-12)
Proper management of what is sown protects and multiplies the return.
Biblical Example:
Abraham sowed seeds of faith and obedience in God’s promises, resulting in nations, wealth, and blessings flowing from his life (Genesis 12:1-3; 26:12-13).
CONCLUSION
The Law of Seedtime and Harvest is a divine principle that cannot be ignored. Sowing with diligence, purpose, and obedience guarantees fruitfulness and blessing. Harvest is determined by what, how, and when we sow.
Believers are called to sow strategically, persevere patiently, and trust God’s timing. Every act of faith, generosity, or obedience becomes seed that brings reward, multiplication, and supernatural increase.
