Description: The Tree of Life represents God’s provision, blessing, and eternal sustenance for those who walk in His ways.

INTRODUCTION

In the Garden of Eden, God placed the Tree of Life at the centre, symbolising His provision, favour, and access to eternal blessing. It was not merely a physical tree but a spiritual representation of life, health, abundance, and fellowship with God.

Many believers struggle with limitations, stagnation, or a lack of purpose because they fail to connect to the source of life and blessing. The Tree of Life teaches that true abundance comes from God’s provision, not from human effort alone.

This sermon highlights the importance of positioning, obedience, and spiritual alignment to access God’s blessing. Those who feed on God’s Word, rely on His presence, and walk in faith experience continual growth and supernatural prosperity.

1. THE TREE OF LIFE SYMBOLISES GOD’S PROVISION

God’s blessing is meant to be enjoyed and experienced daily.

a) Life originates from God (Genesis 2:9)

The Tree of Life demonstrates that God is the ultimate source of sustenance and abundance.

b) Provision is continuous (Psalm 1:3)

Those connected to God’s ways are nourished and fruitful at all times.

c) Spiritual nourishment is essential (John 6:35)

Jesus, the Bread of Life, sustains the believer eternally.

d) God’s blessing is holistic (Isaiah 55:2)

Abundance encompasses physical, spiritual, and emotional provision.

Biblical Example:

Manna in the wilderness was God’s provision for the Israelites; those who obeyed daily received sustenance, illustrating dependence on God’s supply (Exodus 16:4-5, 18).

2. ACCESS TO THE TREE REQUIRES OBEDIENCE

Blessing is conditional upon aligning with God’s instructions.

a) Positioning matters (Genesis 2:16-17)

Access to life and blessing is reserved for those who walk in God’s will.

b) God honours faithfulness (Revelation 2:7)

Eternal life and reward are granted to those who remain faithful to God’s commands.

c) Disobedience blocks blessing (Genesis 3:6-7)

The fall demonstrates that sin can sever access to life and divine favour.

d) Obedience brings life (Proverbs 3:1-2)

Living according to God’s Word unlocks health, longevity, and prosperity.

Biblical Example:

Abraham obeyed God’s call to leave his home, and God blessed him with offspring, wealth, and influence (Genesis 12:1-3).

3. THE TREE OF LIFE BRINGS SPIRITUAL AND ETERNAL BLESSING

The Tree of Life points beyond temporal provision to eternal reward and communion with God.

a) Eternal life through Christ (John 10:10; 14:6)

Jesus restores access to the Tree of Life, offering everlasting blessing.

b) Spiritual growth and fruitfulness (Psalm 92:12-14)

Those connected to God flourish and bear fruit in every season.

c) Healing and restoration (Revelation 22:2)

The leaves of the Tree of Life bring healing and renewal.

d) Blessing extends to others (2 Corinthians 9:8)

God’s blessing is not selfish; it multiplies to impact communities and nations.

Biblical Example:

Joseph’s obedience and connection to God’s presence allowed him to prosper in Egypt, saving many lives during famine (Genesis 41:39-57).

4. BELIEVERS MUST FEED DAILY FROM THE TREE OF LIFE

Spiritual discipline and dependence on God maintain connection to His blessings.

a) Meditation on God’s Word (Psalm 1:2)

Regular engagement with Scripture nourishes the believer spiritually.

b) Prayer sustains life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Communication with God maintains access to His favour and guidance.

c) Obedience cultivates growth (John 15:4-5)

Remaining in Christ ensures constant fruitfulness.

d) Sharing blessing extends life (Acts 20:35)

Generosity activates blessing and multiplies access to life.

Biblical Example:

Daniel’s consistent devotion to God through prayer and obedience allowed him to thrive in Babylon, demonstrating sustained access to God’s favour (Daniel 6:10-23).

CONCLUSION

The Tree of Life reveals God’s desire for believers to live in abundance, health, and spiritual vitality. Access to blessing is conditional on obedience, faith, and connection to God.

Believers are called to daily feed on God’s Word, remain faithful, and live in alignment with His will. Doing so secures continual provision, spiritual growth, and eternal life.
