Introduction:

God’s presence does not change with the headlines. He is not taken by surprise by world events or personal trials. While governments and political forces shift power from one hand to another, God holds all things in His unwavering grip.

I. What are God’s attributes? (Attributes belonging to God alone)

To understand that God is never surprised we must first understand who God is and we do that by knowing His attributes.

I. What are God’s attributes? (Attributes belonging to God alone)

* Self-Existent (Aseity) – God depends on nothing and no one for His existence. Aseity is a theological term that refers to God’s self-existence and self-sufficiency.

*Aseity means that God exists from Himself and by Himself. He does not depend on anything or anyone for His existence, power, or life. God is the uncaused cause—eternal, independent, and complete in Himself.

Exodus 3:14

* Eternal – God has no beginning or end

Psalm 90:2

* Immutable (Unchanging) – God does not change in His nature or promises

Malachi 3:6

* Omnipresent – God is present everywhere at all times

Psalm 139:7–10

* Omniscient – God knows all things past, present, and future

Psalm 147:5

* Omnipotent – God is all-powerful

Jeremiah 32:17

Here are four reasons why we know God is never surprised, each rooted in Scripture and His character:

1. God is Omniscient (All-Knowing)

God knows everything—past, present, and future. Nothing escapes His awareness. Psalm 139:4 says, “Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely.” Because He knows all things, nothing in our lives catches Him off guard.

2. God is Sovereign (In Control of Everything)

God rules over all creation and orchestrates events according to His will. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Even when situations seem chaotic to us, God is fully aware and directing them for His purposes.

3. God Sees the End from the Beginning

God’s knowledge is not limited by time. Isaiah 46:10 declares, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.” Because He sees the future, nothing in our lives is a surprise to Him.

4. God Understands Human Hearts Fully

God knows our thoughts, motives, and weaknesses. Hebrews 4:13 says, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account

II. How Can We Trust God with Our Future?

We can trust God because His character, promises, and actions are perfect and unchanging. Trusting Him doesn’t mean life will always be easy, but it means we can rely on His wisdom, love, and sovereignty.

Here are some biblical reasons and practical ways we can trust God:

1. God Is Faithful and Unchanging

God always keeps His promises. He does not lie or change His mind.

• Scripture: “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act?” (Numbers 23:19)

Because God is faithful, we can trust Him to be consistent and reliable in every situation.

2. God Knows All Things (Omniscient)

God sees the past, present, and future. He knows what we need and what challenges we will face.

• Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

We can trust God even when life is confusing, because He sees the bigger picture and guides us wisely.

3. God Loves and Works for Our Good

God is loving and always desires what is best for His children. He can bring good even from difficult circumstances.

• Scripture: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans

III. Here are Five promises God Makes to Us Every Day ( Based on Scripture, that give Christians confidence and hope)

1. God Promises His Presence

God assures us that we are never alone. He is always with us, even in the darkest moments.

• Scripture: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

2. God Promises Peace

Even in chaos or anxiety, God offers His peace that surpasses understanding.

• Scripture: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

3. God Promises Provision

God promises to meet our needs—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

• Scripture: “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

• Psalm 37:25

4. God Promises Strength

When we feel weak or overwhelmed, God promises to give us the strength we need.

• Scripture: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

5. God Promises Forgiveness and Grace

God promises to forgive us when we repent and to extend His grace daily.

• Scripture: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

These promises remind us that God is faithful, loving, and always working for our good, no matter what each day brings.

Conclusion: How the Truth That God Knows All Things and Is Never Surprised Impacts Christians in Troubled Times?

The biblical truth that God knows all things and is never surprised brings deep comfort and stability to Christians, especially during seasons of trouble. When life feels uncertain or overwhelming, this doctrine reshapes how believers respond to fear, suffering, and loss.

First, it brings peace instead of panic.

Because God sees every detail of our lives—past, present, and future—nothing we face is unexpected to Him. What may feel sudden or chaotic to us has already been known by God. Isaiah 46:10 reminds us that God declares the end from the beginning. This assurance allows Christians to rest in the knowledge that their circumstances have not slipped outside of God’s awareness or control.

Second, it strengthens trust during uncertainty.

Troubled times often raise painful questions: Why is this happening? What will happen next? While Christians may not receive immediate answers, they can trust that God understands the full picture. Proverbs 3:5–6 calls believers to trust the Lord rather than their own limited understanding. Knowing that God is never surprised helps believers surrender control and lean on His wisdom.

Third, it provides hope in suffering.

If God knows all things, then suffering is never meaningless. Romans 8:28 assures believers that God works all things together for good for those who love Him. Even hardship can be used by God to shape character, deepen faith, and draw His people closer to Himself. Christians can endure trials with hope, knowing God has not abandoned His purposes.

Finally, it encourages prayer and dependence on God.

In troubled times, believers are reminded that God already knows their needs before they ask (Matthew 6:8), yet still invites them to pray. Prayer becomes an act of trust, not panic—bringing burdens to a God who is fully aware and fully capable.

Conclusion:

The truth that God knows all things and is never surprised does not remove pain, but it transforms how Christians walk through it. Instead of fear, there is peace. Instead of despair, there is hope. Instead of isolation, there is confidence that the all-knowing, sovereign God is present, purposeful, and trustworthy—even in the darkest times.

Trusting God is a choice, not just a feeling. It’s rooted in knowing who He is—faithful, all-knowing, and loving—and choosing to rely on Him, even when life is uncertain. As we grow in our understanding of His character, trust becomes natural, giving us peace that the God who is never surprised is always in control.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that nothing in my life catches You by surprise.

Even in trials and uncertainty, You are fully aware and in control.

Help me to trust You, rest in Your wisdom, and walk confidently,

knowing You hold every detail of my life in Your hands.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
