SERMON: Does God See the Challenges We Go Through?
Exodus 3:7–8
“The LORD said, I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them…”
Introduction
Have you ever gone through a season where you asked, “God, do You see what I’m going through?”
When the prayers seem unanswered, when the nights are long, when tears become your language — it’s easy to wonder if heaven has gone silent.
But this morning, I bring you good news: God sees. God hears. And God cares.
The story of Israel’s suffering in Egypt reminds us that our God is not distant or unaware. He said, “I have seen, I have heard, and I am concerned.”
No pain escapes His attention. No tear goes unnoticed. No struggle is wasted.
1. GOD SEES WHAT OTHERS DON’T SEE
People may see your smile, but God sees your tears.
They may see your work, but God sees your weariness.
When others overlook your silent battles, God notices.
In Genesis 16, Hagar fled from her mistress Sarah, heartbroken and rejected. Alone in the desert, she encountered God who said, “Hagar, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She called Him El Roi — “The God who sees me” (Genesis 16:13).
Beloved, even when no one understands, God sees you.
He sees your pain, your faithfulness, your sacrifice, your secret battles.
He says today, “I have seen the misery of My people.”
2. GOD HEARS YOUR CRY
Exodus 3:7 continues, “I have heard them crying out…”
You may feel like your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, but God is not deaf to your cry.
David said in Psalm 34:17:
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.”
Every whispered prayer, every groan, every word you couldn’t even say — God heard it.
He hears the cry of the mother praying for her children, the man seeking direction, the believer struggling in silence.
When you can’t find the words, your tears become your prayer language — and God translates them into deliverance.
3. GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR SUFFERING
Notice what God says next: “I am concerned about their suffering.”
He is not just an observer; He is emotionally involved. He cares deeply.
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
This means you can trust His heart even when you can’t trace His hand.
Sometimes God doesn’t remove the problem immediately — not because He doesn’t care, but because He’s preparing a greater testimony through it.
Your suffering is not meaningless; it’s shaping you, stretching you, and strengthening your faith.
4. GOD WILL COME DOWN TO RESCUE YOU
In Exodus 3:8, God says, “So I have come down to rescue them.”
When God sees, hears, and cares — He acts. He steps in.
You may not know how, but He will come through.
He came down for Israel through Moses.
He came down for the world through Jesus Christ.
And He will come down for you through His Spirit and power.
Your rescue may not look like what you expect, but it will always be right on time.
5. GOD’S TIMING IS PERFECT
Israel waited for 400 years — long enough to think God had forgotten them.
But God was working behind the scenes, preparing Moses, preparing Pharaoh’s heart, preparing deliverance.
In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says, “He makes everything beautiful in its time.”
Don’t mistake God’s silence for absence. Delays are not denials.
When the time is right, God will act, and no one will stop Him.
Practical Reflections
1. Keep praying even when you feel unheard — your voice moves heaven.
2. Stay faithful — God rewards those who persevere through unseen seasons.
3. Trust His process — what feels like delay is divine preparation.
4. Remember His nature — He is El Roi, the God who sees.
Conclusion
Whatever you’re facing today sickness, loss, disappointment, rejection hear the Lord’s voice saying to you:
“I have seen. I have heard. I am concerned. And I am coming down to rescue you.”
God has not forgotten you.
He is writing your story even in the dark chapters.
You are never alone — your tears are not wasted, and your faith is not in vain.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the God who sees.
Thank You for every tear You’ve counted, every cry You’ve heard, and every pain You’ve carried on our behalf.
Strengthen those who are weary, comfort the broken, and remind us that You are still at work even when we can’t see it.
We rest in Your love, knowing that You see, You hear, and You will deliver.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
