Summary: THE LAWS OF HARVEST

Galatians 6:1-10 “THE LAWS OF HARVEST”

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

1. Life's Greatest Danger -

Man is deceived by:- i. Sin, ii. Self, iii. Satan, iv. Salvation

2. Life's Greatest Delusion - God is not Being mocked (Cannot Be)

Eccl 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

3. Life's Greatest Diversity - whatsoever a man soweth

Every man chooses :-

His Direction in Life flesh or spirit'',

His Distribution in Life ie good seed or bad His Destination in Life Heaven or Hell,

4. Life's Greatest Discovery - that shall he also reap

Horatio Bottomley, a politician and convicted fraudster, was stitching mailbags in prison "Sewing, Bottomley?" "No," he replied. "Reaping."

i. The Law of LABOUR - for whatsoever a man soweth,

Without cultivating, sowing and reaping, there will be no harvest.

ii. The Law of LIKENESS - that shall he also reap

The kind of seed sown determines the kind of crop harvested.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh (his self-life; living selfishly) shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

I Cors 3:16 -17 Know ye not that ye (plural pronoun, referring to the entire Corinthian church) are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (‘all of you’) If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye (‘all of you’) are”

Hosea said. “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy,”

any sowing you do, whether good or bad, is a “sowing to yourself”

in the sense that the crop finally comes back to the sower.

iii. The Law of LARGENESS - The sower reaps more than he sows. The volume of the harvest is always larger than the volume of the seed sown. - Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is (eternal) death;

but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

“Anybody can count the number of seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.”

iv. The Law of LATENESS - The sower reaps later than he sows.

9 in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

The future will simply be the harvest of the present attitude or action

5. The Law of LOVE

He makes means available for multiplication in future generations

All of us are “reaping” today because someone sowed in the past

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “The truly righteous man is a man who lives for the next generation.”

Elton Trueblood, wrote “the wise man plants a tree under whose shade he knows full well that he will never sit.”

5. Life's Greatest Disaster -

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption

Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

6. Life's Greatest Delight - 8 but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
