INTRODUCTION:
There are moments when God intervenes in the affairs of men in such a mighty way that even the elements of nature respond. The shaking of heaven and earth is a divine expression of God’s power and authority to rearrange situations and establish His will. When God shakes the heavens and the earth, destinies are realigned, and His promises are brought into fulfilment.
In Scripture, divine shaking often precedes divine visitation. Before God establishes something new, He shakes the old to remove what is unstable and unworthy. The shaking of heaven and earth represents divine disturbance that brings about transformation, deliverance, and restoration for His children.
This message reminds us that God will move heaven and earth for the sake of those who trust in Him. When you walk in covenant with the Almighty, no force in heaven or on earth can stop His plans for your life.
1. GOD SHAKES HEAVEN AND EARTH TO REVEAL HIS GLORY
When God shakes the heavens and the earth, it is not to destroy His people but to display His glory and power.
a) Shaking reveals the supremacy of God (Exodus 19:18):
The mountain trembled when God descended upon Sinai, showing that no power can withstand His presence.
b) Shaking silences human pride (Isaiah 2:12-19):
God humbles the proud and exalts His own glory through divine shaking.
c) Shaking prepares the way for His glory (Haggai 2:7):
When God shakes, He removes hindrances so that the desire of all nations, Christ, may be revealed.
d) Shaking demonstrates God’s covenant faithfulness (Haggai 2:9):
The latter glory is always greater than the former when God moves in power.
Biblical Example: When God appeared to Moses on Mount Sinai, the mountain shook violently as a sign of His glory and presence (Exodus 19:16-18).
2. GOD SHAKES HEAVEN AND EARTH TO DELIVER HIS PEOPLE
Divine shaking brings liberation from bondage and opens doors of freedom for God’s children.
a) Shaking breaks chains (Acts 16:26):
When Paul and Silas prayed, there was an earthquake that opened all prison doors and loosed every chain.
b) Shaking dismantles evil altars (Judges 6:25-32):
God’s shaking brings down demonic structures opposing His purposes.
c) Shaking confuses the enemy (Exodus 14:24-25):
In the Red Sea, God troubled the Egyptians by shaking their chariots and wheels.
d) Shaking releases divine intervention (Psalm 18:7-9):
The earth trembled when David cried to God, and God came down to rescue him.
Biblical Example: The prison doors of Philippi opened by divine shaking, proving that no human chain can hold God’s people captive (Acts 16:25-26).
3. GOD SHAKES HEAVEN AND EARTH TO ESTABLISH HIS PURPOSE
Whenever God shakes the earth, it is to fulfil His divine agenda and bring about His perfect will.
a) Shaking removes what is temporary (Hebrews 12:27):
God allows shaking to separate the eternal from the unstable.
b) Shaking ushers in divine order (Isaiah 45:2-3):
God breaks the gates of brass and cuts the bars of iron to establish His purpose.
c) Shaking positions His people for promotion (Genesis 41:41-43):
Before elevation, there is often a shaking that tests faith and obedience.
d) Shaking fulfills divine timing (Ecclesiastes 3:11):
When your season of manifestation comes, God shakes everything to align with His plan.
Biblical Example: Joseph’s life was shaken through trials and imprisonment, but God used it to position him for the throne of Egypt.
4. GOD SHAKES HEAVEN AND EARTH TO RELEASE BLESSINGS AND FAVOUR
When God shakes the heavens and the earth, He releases blessings hidden in unlikely places.
a) Shaking transfers wealth (Haggai 2:8):
God shakes nations to release their treasures for the advancement of His kingdom.
b) Shaking brings revival (Ezekiel 37:7-10):
The shaking of dry bones led to a mighty army filled with the breath of God.
c) Shaking opens new opportunities (Isaiah 43:18-19):
Through shaking, God makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
d) Shaking ushers in joy and thanksgiving (Psalm 126:1-3):
When the Lord turns things around, laughter and songs of praise fill the mouths of His people.
Biblical Example: The early church experienced a mighty shaking in Acts 4:31; the place was filled with the Holy Spirit, and great grace came upon them all.
CONCLUSION:
God is still in the business of shaking heaven and earth for the sake of His people. His shaking may look fearful at first, but it is always redemptive and purposeful. It breaks strongholds, releases blessings, and brings His glory into manifestation.
When life seems uncertain, remember that God’s shaking is a sign that something glorious is about to happen. Stand firm in faith and expect divine rearrangement in your favour, for the Lord will move heaven and earth to fulfil His word concerning you.
