THE GOD WHO REMEMBERS HIS PROMISES

INTRODUCTION:
The faithfulness of God is the bedrock of every believer’s confidence. From generation to generation, God has proven that He never forgets what He has promised. He may not always fulfill His word according to our timetable, but He always fulfills it in His perfect time. When Joshua led Israel into the Promised Land, they saw the tangible fulfillment of every word that God had spoken to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob hundreds of years earlier.
We serve a covenant-keeping God who watches over His word to perform it. Human beings may forget, delay, or disappoint, but God never fails. His promises are backed by His character, and His integrity guarantees their fulfillment. No matter how long it seems or how impossible the situation looks, the God who remembered Israel will remember you.
Therefore, believers must learn to stand firm on God’s word with unwavering faith. The God who remembered Noah in the ark, Sarah in her barrenness, and Joseph in the prison is still the same today. He will never forget His promises concerning your life, family, and destiny.
1. GOD’S PROMISES ARE CERTAIN AND RELIABLE
Every promise God makes is anchored in His truth and power; He is incapable of lying or failing.
a) God’s word is unchangeable (Numbers 23:19): God is not a man that He should lie; what He says, He will surely do. His promises stand firm forever.
b) God’s promises are eternal (Psalm 119:89): His word is settled in heaven; no force on earth can alter what God has decreed.
c) God’s power ensures fulfillment (Isaiah 55:10-11): His word goes forth with divine authority and must accomplish the purpose for which it is sent.
d) God’s integrity is His guarantee (Hebrews 6:17-18): Because He swore by Himself, His promises are absolutely dependable.
Biblical Example: God promised Abraham a son in his old age, and though it took twenty-five years, He fulfilled His word through Isaac (Genesis 21:1-3).
2. GOD REMEMBERS HIS COVENANTS AND HIS PEOPLE
Even when time has passed or circumstances seem forgotten, God never abandons His covenant or His children.
a) God remembers His covenant of mercy (Exodus 2:24-25): When Israel groaned in bondage, God remembered His covenant with Abraham and raised Moses as a deliverer.
b) God remembers those who trust in Him (Psalm 105:8): He is mindful of His promises to a thousand generations.
c) God remembers at the appointed time (Genesis 8:1): Noah was not forgotten in the flood; at the right time, God caused the waters to recede.
d) God remembers to reward faithfulness (Malachi 3:16-17): Those who fear the Lord are written in His book of remembrance for honour.
Biblical Example: God remembered Hannah in her sorrow and gave her Samuel, a prophet who transformed Israel (1 Samuel 1:19-20).
3. OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S PROMISES
While waiting for God’s promises, believers must maintain faith, obedience, and perseverance.
a) Stand firm in faith (Romans 4:20-21): Like Abraham, be fully persuaded that what God has promised, He is able to perform.
b) Obey divine instructions (Deuteronomy 28:1-2): Many promises manifest through our obedience to God’s voice.
c) Be patient in the waiting process (Hebrews 6:12): Through faith and patience, the promises of God are inherited.
d) Keep praising and thanking God (Romans 4:20): Thanksgiving during waiting time demonstrates trust in God’s faithfulness.
Biblical Example: Joseph held on to God’s promises despite betrayal and imprisonment, and at the right time, God elevated him to the palace (Genesis 41:39-44).
4. WHEN GOD FULFILLS HIS PROMISES, HE DOES IT IN GRAND STYLE
When God acts, He exceeds human expectations and glorifies Himself through the fulfillment.
a) God’s promises come with divine completeness (Joshua 21:45): Not one word failed; all came to pass just as He said.
b) God’s blessings overflow (Ephesians 3:20): He does exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
c) God’s timing brings the greatest glory (Ecclesiastes 3:11): He makes everything beautiful in His time.
d) God’s fulfillment strengthens our faith (Psalm 40:1-3): When God answers, it becomes a testimony that draws others to trust Him.
Biblical Example: When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, it was like a dream — their mouths were filled with laughter (Psalm 126:1-2).
CONCLUSION:
God never forgets what He has spoken concerning His people. Time and trials may seem to delay the fulfillment, but His promises are as sure as His throne. Just as He fulfilled every word to Israel in the days of Joshua, He will fulfill every word spoken over your life.
Do not give up or lose faith; the same God who remembered His covenant with Abraham, delivered Israel from Egypt, and fulfilled His word to Joshua will surely remember you. Every divine promise you are standing on shall come to pass in due season, and His glory will be revealed in your life.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, I thank You for being a faithful God who never forgets His promises.
2. Father, forgive me for every time I have doubted Your word.
3. Lord, strengthen my faith to stand firm until every promise is fulfilled.
4. Every delay standing against the manifestation of Your promises in my life, be broken in Jesus’ name.
5. Lord, remember me in Your mercy and visit me in Your appointed time.
6. Every force of unbelief and fear working against my faith, be destroyed by fire.
7. Father, let every good word You have spoken concerning my family begin to manifest.
8. Lord, cause me to walk in obedience that attracts Your covenant blessings.
9. Every forgotten promise over my life, arise and come alive again by divine remembrance.
10. Lord, let my testimony become a proof that You are the God who remembers His promises.
