Let us pray, Almighty and Gracious Father, You who are ancient of days, You who have no beginning nor ending, You who crafted the world out from your words “Let there be” and it was, You who crafted humanity and shaped us in your own image.
We who are weak and frail come to this place and invoke Your presence. We acknowledge that we must invite You into our space and into this place. As elected officials, staff department heads, and their staff have gathered to bring hope, liberty, and justice, as well as assurance, to all the residents of Los Angeles County.
We come not just as individuals and supervisor districts, but we come as a collective body of people with the willingness and desire to serve others. Even in this time of uncertainty, we come with the aspiration that all things will work out for the good of the people in this County and beyond.
We have come to express our gratitude to the staff who have toiled over the facts and figures, bringing this body the best they can offer. To provide even the best of the basic services to children, families, and seniors within our community. We come with the hope, believing, and trusting that the oil and the meal will never run out.
We invite You to come and help build and strengthen each of our Supervisors today, give them the Wisdom and insight to bring hope and healing to our community. Please provide them with the stamina to stand against the very forces that seek to dismantle and disrupt the quality of life of families in Los Angeles County.
As we depart from the place, we leave knowing that all things are going to work out for the good of the people in this County,
As I close this prayer, I ask that You guide these leaders to help turn:
Our Fears into Confidence
Our Anxieties into Fullness
Our Sorrows into Gladness
Our Desperation into Hope
Our Misery into Comfort
Our Doubts into Firmness
As we arise from this moment of reflection and we ask that Your light lead us onward, may Your Wisdom be the compass that guides our hearts and feelings.
Let Your strength be the foundation under our feet; May Your love bind us together.
Let Your hope be the anthem that we sing, and Your service to all be our legacy, as we walk into a brighter tomorrow.
So let us go down from this place to inspire others to serve, to listen, and to build a community where hope and unity prevail.
