Summary: The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity who a lot of Christians have not paid attention to, but without Him, we are nothing.

The Holy Spirit

The Bible established that there is only one God. In this one God, we see three secrets.

1. God, who has an image.

2. God, who is called the Word.

3. God of the Spirit.

Today, we already know about the God who has an image. He created the heaven and the earth. So, whenever you see yourself, you've seen this God.

In Genesis 1:26-27, God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

We were created in God's image. David said, “Your image will satisfy me in the morning.”

This is God the Father. You call this God all the time. He is the One who said He is a jealous God. He is the one who gave us the Ten Commandments. He is the one who loves the world so much and gave His Son to the world. It is this God to whom we sinned. It is this God who raised Noah. He is the one who destroyed the first wicked world. He is the son of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. You know this, and you pray to this God all the time.

The second one is the word that came out of the mouth of God. It is this one to whom we are gathered today, and in whose name we pray all the time. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This word that came from God is also God.

Just as you cannot separate Obadare from his word, so it is that you cannot separate God from His word.

Now, John 1:14 says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” This word that became flesh and dwelt among us is Jesus Christ. He is the one called the Word of God.

This is why there is no difference between God and Jesus. I believe you understand things about Jesus, as you have read and heard a great deal about him. He was born through Mary in the manger. He dwelt among us for thirty-three and a half years and did ministry work. He is the Son of God who took away our sins. The word that came out of the father’s mouth is called Jesus. His name delivers, heals, and blesses.

He is the one coming back to be the judge of the world. I believe you know this.

The problem we now have is with the third word of God, which is yet to be understood by many people. This one is the one called the Holy Spirit.

Many Christians do not understand this third person. They handle the Holy Spirit with irritation. They revere both God the Father and the Son, but God the Holy Spirit has no room in people’s hearts.

Let's see how they are all connected as one. Matthew 3:16-17 says, “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Question: When Jesus came to the world and wanted to start his ministry, He was baptized. Upon getting baptized, who came down?

Answer: The Holy Spirit.

Question: Upon whom did the Holy Spirit come?

Answer: Upon Jesus

Question: As soon as the Spirit of God rested upon Jesus, what happened next?

Answer: The voice of God sounded from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Question: What position is the spirit of a man in? Is it not the same as the man?

Answer: He is the same.

You are a person, you are your word, and your spirit is you. Right? So you, your word, and your spirit are one. Therefore, God, His word, and His Spirit are one. We do not worship three; we worship only one God.

Yes, your faith is in the God of the Father and the Son, but not in the God of the Spirit.

So, where are we heading?

• As elders, should we not know where they are going? When prayers of the Holy Spirit are called, do you think it's your concern?

• Youths and intellectuals, do you discuss the Holy Spirit or think it makes sense?

This neglect of the Holy Spirit is the reason why the might and power of God are not perfected in the lives.

You must have the triune God inside of you - God the Father, and the Son, who is the Word of the Father, and God the Holy Spirit.

Without the Holy Spirit, you are empty. It's scary how we only care about material things, healing, breakthroughs, and other things, rather than receiving the Holy Spirit. If you don't have the holy spirit, it's like eating a tasteless stew. Although the stew has lots of ingredients, it lacks taste.

The Holy Spirit is the God who:

1. Is the presence of God in this world (Romans 8:11 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

2. Teaches us the words of the Father (1 John 2:27)

3. Comforts us here on earth (John 14:26)

4. Advocates for us (John 14:26)

5. Reminds us what God the Son has taught us (John 14:26)

6. Convicts us of sin (John 16:8-11).

7. Helps us to pray and intercedes for us (Romans 8:26-27)

8. Empowers us to preach the gospel (Acts 1:8; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21)

9. Empowers us to set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1)

10. Seals our salvation – the guarantee for our eternity (Ephesians 1:13-14).

You need the Holy Spirit to be able to accomplish any of the goals listed above, meaning that without the Holy Spirit, we can do nothing.

Praise God, you can receive the Holy Spirit now, because God has already promised to pour upon you (Joel 2:28-29).

Let us pray:

Lord, fulfill your promise of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. We wait on you.
