Psalms 91:14 - Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
I really love the message translation which says
“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,
“I’ll get you out of any trouble.
I’ll give you the best of care
if you’ll only get to know and trust me.
Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;
I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.”
We are all familiar with all types of parties.
Growing up I remember
House Party –where everyone came to your home.
Dinner Party – Guests are usually invited for a formal meal.
Garden Party – Held outdoors, often in the afternoon.
Pool Party – Held at a swimming pool, just for fun.
Dance Party
Birthday Party
Anniversary Party
Graduation Party
Retirement Party Engagement Party
Here’s one some of will know
Cocktail Party – Which focuses on drinks and socializing.
And here’s one some of you are not old enough to know about and that’s a rent parties. A rent party is when people would come to your house and pay to get in, where there would be food, drinks, and music. Everybody that is there is there to help you pay your rent. (I have given somebody an idea for the month lol).
But then there is the party where everything is about you, everyone is there to celebrate you. It’s all about your your honor? A celebration where your name was on every heart and every eye turns when you entered the room.
Well in Psalm 91:14–15 is God throwing that kind of party. It’s not with balloons and a cake, but it’s with rescue, protection, presence, deliverance, and honor.
God is saying, “Because you love Me, I’m about to show out for you.”
Tell your neighbor It’s party time.
Let’s look at God’s guest list. The Guest List Starts With Love
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord…
God responds to love. This is not religion or ritual, but this is relationship. When your love for God is genuine, it puts you on Heaven’s VIP list.
You don’t need to be perfect. Just love God.
You don’t need a major credit card. You just need to love Him back.
It doesn’t matter what your credit score is. Just genuinely love God.
Why pastor? It’s because this is the kind of love that makes God move on your behalf.
So not only will God throw you a party, but then God will set you up a personal security detail.
He says “I will rescue him; I will protect him…”
God becomes your security system. He’s not just watching over you, but He’s also intervening on your behalf.
Why is that Pastor? Because we know everybody that shows up at the party, doesn’t always act right.
Some people will come to the party, just to mess things up.
Some people will come to the party already drunk.
Some people will come to the party just to start a fight.
So when trouble shows up, God shows out.
When enemies raise up, God stands in between.
Let me put it in Bible language.
Isaiah 59:19 says When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”
This verse speaks of God’s power to defend His people.
When evil, or opposition show up like a flood rushing through your life. God raises a “standard” (a banner, a signal, or force) to stop it. This is a message of divine protection and intervention in times of intense spiritual attack.
In other words, this is a promise of God’s protection and action when spiritual warfare intensifies.
So, you are not just surviving, but you are covered.
But then there is a Divine Connection: A Call and Response
“He will call on me, and I will answer him…”
When you call, God doesn’t screen your prayers.
He doesn’t look down at the caller ID and says ohhh no it’s Oldie again, it’s Jones, and Spies again.
When we pray, God doesn’t hit “ignore.”
God never screens our prayers, and roll His eyes at our name popping up again.
He never gets tired of us like we get tired of each other.
Nooooo, He picks up every time because your voice moves Heaven.
Your prayers shake the gates of Heaven.
Your cry echoes in the throne room of God.
Your voice activates divine power.
It is your prayers that set the angels in motion.
The same way a parent rushes when their child cries, God says, “I’m listening. I’m here. I’ve got you.”
So God will throw you a party, then God will set you up a personal security detail. He will have a divine protection, and God will allow the Call, and he will Response
But then God will give us Divine intervention.
But then for those of us who dealing with some issues.
You are having problems in the home. Problems with the family, problems with your spouse, and even problems on the job. I have some good news for you.
God can provide a Party in the Middle of the Problem
The Bible says “I will be with him in trouble…”
Ok here’s the good news: The party doesn’t wait for perfect circumstances.
Sometimes God throws the party in the middle of your pain.
God doesn’t always take us out of the storms, sometimes He just brings peace right in the middle of it.
Grace doesn’t wait for the pain to end, sometimes it shows up with healing hands in the darkest hours.
Here it is. God can have the music playing while the storms are raging, but He’s with you in it.
God can have the music playing while the storms are raging, not because the storm isn’t real, but because His presence is more powerful than the chaos of the storm.
He doesn’t always silence the thunder, but He can give you a melody in the middle of it, God can give you a reason to dance with tears in your eyes, and with a peace that doesn’t make sense to the world.
We must know that we are not alone, even when it feels like it.
The Grand Finale: Deliverance and Honor.
He say’s “I will deliver him and honor him.”
Not only does God bring you out, but He brings you up.
Not only does God rescue you, but He restores you.
Not only does God deliver you, but He develops you.
Not only does God lift you out, but He leads you forward.
You went in crying, but you’re coming out celebrated.
You entered broken, but you’re leaving whole.
You started in fear, but you’re finishing in faith.
You walked in unnoticed, but you’re walking out unforgettable.
You began in silence, but you’re ending in song.
You showed up unsure, but you’re stepping out unstoppable.
You were under attack, but now you’re under God’s favor.
You were in the struggle, but now you’re in God’s strength.
You were counted out, but now you’re covered in grace.
He honors you, not because of who you are, but because of whose you are, and this is your invitation. Not to a pity party, but to a praise party.
Why?
Because you love Him.
Because you called on Him.
Because He’s with you.
Because He’s about to deliver and honor you.
So go ahead and praise Him, because IT’S PARTY TIME!!!!!
You’ve been clinging.
You’ve been trusting.
You’ve been calling.
And God says, while you were doing all of that “I’ve been planning a party.”
So, no more sulking, start celebrating.
Because the King of Kings is throwing a party just for you.
And guess what? It’s Party Time.
I’m reminded of a story about how it had been a hard few months for this young lady. After praying and fasting, fasting and praying, she was tired, worn out, and feeling invisible.
One day Mary sat on the edge of her bed wondering if God even saw her anymore. Life had thrown every storm it could.
So, she whispered into the darkness, God, do you still care?”
That night, she fell asleep with tears on her cheeks, but as the tears ran down her face, Heaven heard every one of them.
Meanwhile, in the Kingdom of God trumpets were sounding.
A banner were being lifted up: saying, today, we celebrate Mary.
The Angels busters out the lights that shimmered with grace. Tables overflowed with blessings Mary name was written in gold across every decoration. The King of Kings had called for a celebration.
“Why such a big party?” one curious angel asked.
The Lord smiled and said.
Because she called on Me.
Because she loves Me.
I know She may feel forgotten, but today will be a day for her to remember.
I heard that the gates of heaven opened, and a radiant light poured through as Mary—now dreaming—was gently led into the celebration.
She looked around, wide-eyed. “What… is all this?”
A voice like thunder wrapped in kindness answered, “This is for you. I know you thought you were ignored, but I’ve been planning this for a while. Every time you cried, I collected your tears. Every prayer you whispered, I held close. And now… it’s time to show you what My love looks like.”
I heard that Mary fell to her knees, overwhelmed by joy, not the temporary kind the world offers, but the kind that fills every broken place with wholeness.
The Lord lifted her up. “Because you love Me, I will carry you. Because you trust Me, I will answer you. The hard days tried to bury you, but I came to crown you.”
And with that, the music began. Heaven rejoiced, and so did Mary —dancing not in sorrow, but in the overflow of God’s goodness.
Back in her room, Mary woke up with peace so deep it didn’t make sense. Her situation hadn’t changed—yet. But she had.
She smiled. Something in her spirit knew:
God doesn’t just rescue. He rejoices over you.
He doesn’t just bring you out. He throws a party when you come through.
And somewhere in Heaven, I believe that there is a celebration going on for you and I.
Tell your neighbor that it’s party time.
But there is one more party that I need to talk about.
It started one Friday, when they crucified our Savior, and they crucified our Lord.
Yes he died, but the party came one Sunday morning when he got up with all power in his hands.
