And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Church, there are moments in life when everything seems to be falling apart. Bills are due. Health is failing. Relationships are crumbling. Storm clouds gather, and you can’t see the sun.
But in spite of all that, there’s a stirring down on the inside that says, “I’ve got a feeling everything is going to be alright.”
This is not just a feeling based on wishful thinking, it’s a faith that stands on the unshakable promises of God, and we don’t say that everything will be alright because it looks alright, but we say it because we know Who holds our future.
May I tell you that God Is Still in Control
The Bible doesn’t say that everything is good. It says everything works together for good.
That means even the bad stuff has to submit to the plan of God.
It’s like a recipe: flour by itself is bitter, salt is sharp, baking powder is dry, eggs when cracked are runny, but mix them all together and put them in the fire, and you get a cake.
It’s like an orchestra. On their own, the instruments may sound random or out of place. The drums may beat too loud, a violin may sound too soft, the horns may blare, but when the conductor steps up and brings them all together, those scattered sounds become a beautiful symphony.
It’s like a puzzle. Each piece on its own looks confusing, jagged, and incomplete. Some pieces are dark, some are bright, and some don’t seem to fit anywhere.
But when the puzzle solver puts them in place, you see the full picture, and everything begins to make sense.
And that’s a Word for somebody up in here.
Just because you’re in the fire doesn’t mean you have been forsaken, but it could mean that God is cooking up something good in your life.
Just because the storms are raging in your life, doesn’t mean God has abandoned the boat, it just means He’s about to speak, peace, be still, and show you His power like never before.
Here it is. Just because the seed is buried in the dirt doesn’t mean it’s dead, it just means that it’s now in the position to grow into something greater. Do you not know that God can some of His best work in dark places.
Daniel 3 reminds us of the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was thrown into the fiery furnace.
But the fire didn’t burn them; it only burned the ropes off their hands. And when the king looked in, he said did not read through all three of them in the fire? But then he said, but I see a fourth man walking in the fire.
Tell your neighbor: I don’t know how, I don’t know when, but I’ve got a feeling everything is going to be alright!
Tell somebody near you: It might not look like it, it might not feel like it, but deep down in my spirit, I know everything is going to be alright!
Come on let me trouble you one more time. Turn to your neighbor and say: I can’t explain it, I can’t prove it, but I’ve got a promise and a praise, everything is going to be alright!
May I tell you that faith is what fuels the feeling
Because we walk by faith, not by sight. The doctor may give one report, but faith believes the report of the Lord. Faith says, “I may be sick, but healing is mine.” Faith says, “I may be down, but I’m not done.”
So, here the Apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Rome. Paul was writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit was encouraging believers who were facing trials, persecution, and uncertainty.
He started off by saying And we know…” Paul starts with certainty. He’s not guessing or hoping, but he’s saying with confidence, “We know this.” As believers, we may not know everything, but there are some things we can be sure of and this is one of them.
And that is that all things work together for good. This doesn’t mean everything that happens is good. Cancer isn’t good. Losing a loved one isn’t good. Betrayal and heartbreak aren’t good.
But God is so powerful, so sovereign, that He can take even the worst situations, and work them together to produce something good, meaningful, and eternal.
Look at who this applies to. To them that love God. Now this promise isn’t for everybody. It’s specifically for those who love God, not just with their lips, but with their lives. That means those who are walking in relationship and obedience with Him.
Here is the B clause to that verse. To them who are the called according to his purpose.”
“The called” refers to those who’ve responded to God’s invitation, the saved, the believers in Jesus Christ.
It means you are not here by accident. There’s a divine purpose on your life. And because of that purpose, nothing that happens to you is wasted.
In Romans 8:28 is a promise that says:
God is always at work behind the scenes.
Even your pain has a purpose if you belong to Him.
Everything good, bad, ugly can and will be used for your spiritual growth, your testimony, and God’s glory.
If you love God, and you are living in His purpose, you can rest assured:
It may not feel good now, but it’s going to work for your good in the end.
It may look like a setback today, but God is setting you up for something greater than you imagined.
Some of us are praying for God to move, but some of us have stop trusting. We say we believe God will make a way, but we have stopped checking the mailbox, stopped updating our résumé, stopped praising Him in advance.
If we really believe everything’s going to be alright, then we ought to act like it, live like it, and shout like it, even before we see the evidence.
Child of God, I don’t know what you’re facing today, but I came to remind you of something deep in my spirit: I’ve got a feeling everything is going to be alright.
Don’t go by what you see. Don’t go by what you feel. Go by what you know. And what you know is:
And that’s is God is still on the throne.
You know that Jesus is our Savior.
You know that The Holy Ghost is moving.
And you know that your story isn’t over yet.
So lift your hands, open your mouth, and declare by faith:
“I’ve got a feeling everything is going to be alright!”
I’m reminded of a story about there once was an old man named Mr. Michael who owned a small clock shop in a quiet town. In his window sat a large antique grandfather clock, beautiful, hand-carved, but it no longer ticking. Every day, people would stop and stare.
Some would say, why don’t you just throw it out? It’s broken. Others said, there’s no fixing of something that old.”
But Mr. Michael refused to remove the clock.
One day, a little boy named Leroy walked into the shop. “Sir,” he asked, “why do you keep that broken clock in the window?”
The old man smiled and said, because I know what it used to be, and I know what it can be again.”
Then one evening, when everyone else had closed up their shop, Mr. Michael rolled up his sleeves, took out his tools, and worked through the night.
He cleaned every gear, polished every wheel, and reset the mechanism. As the sun rose, something miraculous happened, the clock began to ticked. Then it began to tick toc. (Tick toc, tick toc, and then it began to chimed.
The whole town gathered outside as the bell rang out, it was alive again.
Mr. Michael looked at Leroy and said, sometimes, people give up on what’s broken. But when you put it in the hands of the one who created it, even what’s been silent for years can start moving again.”
That’s what happens when you trust Jesus.
Life may feel like a broken clock, stuck, forgotten, passed over by people who don’t see your worth. You may feel like your time has run out, like nothing is changing, like your best days are behind you.
But when you put your life in the hands of the Master, He knows how to fix what’s broken. He sees beyond what people say. He’s not in a hurry, but He’s always on time.
Because Jesus is Still Working.
He’s working behind the scenes when you can’t see Him.
He’s mending what’s been damaged by years of pain.
He’s restoring the time you thought was wasted.
And even if your clock has been silent for a while, don’t count yourself out, Jesus is still the Master Restorer. And when He’s finished, you won’t just tick, you’ll chime for the world to hear.
So trust Him. It may not feel alright now, but if Jesus has your heart, everything is going to be alright.
I gotta get out here but allow me to tell you that Jesus is the proof that everything will be alright, because over 2,000 years ago, things didn’t look alright.
They arrested Jesus.
They mocked Him.
They beat Him.
They hung Him high and stretched Him wide.
On Friday, He died.
On Saturday, it was silent.
Hell thought it had won.
The disciples were discouraged.
The tomb was sealed.
And it seemed like hope was gone.
But early Sunday morning, Jesus got up!
He didn’t stay dead. He conquered death, hell, and the grave. And because He got up, you can get up too.
And because He lives, we can face tomorrow.
Because He got up, our families will be alright.
Because He rose, we are in our right mind, tell your neighbor it will be alright
