Summary: There's a lot of mass confusion about the Sabbath,

The Truth About The Sabbath

There's a lot of mass confusion about the Sabbath, and due to the mass confusion, man has made a mess out of the Sabbath. Folks should spend time in Ex. 12, a month, a year.... ere how long it takes for the Holy Spirit to enlighten them. God made known to the nation of Israel when their SABBATH(s) started.

It is very plain in scripture that the Sabbath was not ever given to the NT church body.

If I believed as many, I'd have to believe that only one Sabbath, when actually, there's more. Why?

(1) During the creation account, as found in Genesis, NO MONTH is given or named. Only Days!

(2) And the evening and the morning were the ... day.

(3) In Ex. 12:1-2 God told Moses that 'this month shall be unto you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you (Israel).

(4) Nissan - March–April - Passover April is the beginning of months for Israel.

(5) When God rested on the Sabbath day after creation, did He rest on the first Sabbath day in the month Nissan?

(6) If so all is well. If not, then He had two Sabbaths. One after creation that Moses recorded some 2500 years after He rested. The second being His holy sabbath that He established with the nation of Israel.

(7) Furthermore, we know that when God gave the law on Sinai, the nation of Israel had a weekly sabbath, as well as high Sabbaths, for they took the body of Jesus down before the high sabbath.

The truth of the matter is simple to those who will admit they believe something not true regarding the Sabbath and to whom it was given and why.

'Thou shalt not steal' and that includes, whether you agree or believe it or not, that which God gave to the nation of Israel (the Sabbath) and force it in and on the NT church body.

Moses wrote what God told him to write. What Moses penned was what God did during creation and Moses recorded the acts some 2500 years after creation. Fact is, the book of Genesis is history of what happened and to whom. You won't find many 'THOU SHALT NOTS' in Genesis.

It's an assumption void of scriptural evidence to teach that Adam, Shem, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, etc. kept the Sabbath.

That these people had a moral conscience is a given and Paul speaks of this in Rom. 1-3.

It's a biblical documented fact: 'No one kept the sabbath until Exodus 12! It was IMPOSSIBLE for them anyone to keep the Sabbath, before Ex. 12, because in Ex. 12, the Jewish calendar is established. Such is why the nation of Israel, NOT the NT church, was told to remember the sabbath, Ex. 20."

Bible Calendar

A good bible calendar will reveal to the sincere student of scripture no one had the Law of Moses for about 2500 years, and that includes the law of the Sabbath.

"We learn in Galatians 3:16 to 19 that 430 years after God made His promise to Abraham, Moses received the law from God on Mount Sinai.

From Adam to Moses was about 2500 years. God made promises to Abram about 427 years after the flood. The law was added to the promise about 1495 years before Christ was made of a woman, made under the law."

Some believe and teach that God gave the law He gave to Moses to someone shortly after He finished His creation, but they're not certain or sure to whom or when. And they don't know why God had to give the law again, ( :

Yet, because they find the word 'LAW' and 'COMMANDMENTS' in Genesis, they're 100% certain that it's the same laws and commandments God gave Moses on Mt. Sinai. Even though Moses is known as the lawgiver, there be some that believe the law was given to someone - be it Adam, Seth, Enoch, Nimrod, Noah, etc. etc. - and that someone failed to follow the commands in Deut. 6, even though Deut. 6 was not given till after the law was given on Mt. Sinai, for the book of Deuteronomy is a recap of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.

Still they believe that Abraham followed the same law that God gave Moses, even though Moses was not a gleam in his gr-gr-gr-gr-gr-granddaddys' eye at the time of Abraham.

Deut. 5:1-5

1. And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3. The LORD made not this covenant with **our fathers,** but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

4. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire

5. (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

6. I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Moses said plainly that God didn't give the law to their fathers: (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) He made it with them at Mt. Horeb, not in the Garden of Eden.

Jesus Christ: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, John 1:17.

To teach anything else is only accomplished by calling the Holy Spirit, Moses, Nehemiah, John and Jesus Christ, well, you get the idea.

Calendar, what Calendar?

Did the nation of Israel have a calendar before Passover? If they did, it was of Egyptian or Babylonian origins. How do we know?

Let's see wha the bible says:

Ex. 12:1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying,

2 This ***month*** shall be unto you the ***beginning of months:*** it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Now what does that mean? It means that regardless of the way they once numbered months in Egypt, God was giving them their own calander, and their calendar differs from the one used by the remainder of the world today.

The month God was speaking to them was THEIR BEGINNG OF MONTHS. Month one would be our April!

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the ***tenth day of this month*** (Apirl) they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

God tells them in the 10th day, so now they start counting days from the day God spoke to Moses. God is about to change their way of numbering days, so that they will remember every year on the same day what He's about to do.

reading on down in Exo. 12 we see:

14 And this ***day** shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

V. 15 tell us that the nation of Israel was not counting days until Ex 12, merely months. Such is why we read in Ex 16 they were told to gather enough manna on the 6th day so it would last thru the sabbath.

Yes, I know that God, here in Ex 12, is establishing the Passover; but if the nation of Israel was keeping the Sabbath in Egypt, they kept it on the wrong day. Do you actually believe that when the nation of Israel were slaves in Egypt, that Pharaoh gave them Sunday off? If Israel had a calendar in bondage, it was most likely, Egyptian or Babylonian.

God is about to establish the laws of the Sabbath for the nation of Israel. Hence in Ex. 20, He said: REMEMBER the Sabbath day, and He wasn't referring to 7th day after creation. How do we know this? Because no one was stoned for violating the law of the Sabbath from Adam until Numbers 15:32-35.

To believe that the nation of Israel kept the sabbath before Ex. 12 makes one guilty of adding to the writ.

16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

SEVENTH DAY!!! HOLY CONCOVATION TO YOU! (Not the NT church) The nation of Israel.

HERE IS WHERE THE LAW OF THE SABBATH DAY STARTED, not in Genesis. Furthermore, if the sabbath day in Ex. 12 is not on the same day as the 7th day of creation when God rested, what that means is there were two sabbath, and we know after God gave Moses the law, He also established high sabbaths as well.

Also one could almost say that God started His work of creation on our April 1st and finished it on April 7th, but that would be reading something into the writ that is not there. ( :

If Israel was keeping the sabbath before Ex. 12, there was NO NEED for God to give these laws to Moses. Which means they were working 7/12's while slaves in Egypt. IOW, they were NOT keeping the Sabbath while in bondage.

Exodus 31:12-18

12 And the Lord spake unto Moses, (Moses is the Lawgiver! and he gave the Laws of God to the Nation of Israel!) saying,

13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, (the children of Israel are descendants via DNA of Abraham!) saying, Verily my sabbaths ye ***ye refers back to the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL** shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. - you refers back to the nation of Israel

Thou Shalt Not Steal...and that means we Gentiles shall not steal the covenant God made between Himself and the nation of Israel.

14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: *** you - refers back the children of Israel, v. 13*** every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. (His people refers to the nation of Israel living under the law of Moses)

So you that are keeping the Sabbath today, are you stoning those that don't? Why not? Same God that said keep the Sabbath Holy, is the same God that said stone those that don't keep the Sabbath. (Art thou guilty of cherry picking what part of the bible you want read and obey? Break one part of the law, you broke it all).

15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

(oh... you Sabbath day keepers in 2025, are you following v. 15??? ) if not, why not?

16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, *** throughout THEIR generations means that as long as there are DNa descendants of Abraham** for a perpetual covenant. perpetual = forever

17 It is a sign between me (GOD) and the children of Israel (Jacob's name was changed to Israel) for ever: - forever means forever and it DOES NOT Mean until the NT Church comes on the scene - if you say it does, do you know what you're calling God? for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

God never told: Adam, Enoch, Seth, Noah, Abraham, Issac, Jacob etc. etc. anything about the Sabbath!

Nehemiah 9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:

9:14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:

9:15 And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them

Nehemiah 9:14 “And madest known unto them ***thy holy sabbath,*** and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the ^^^^^hand of Moses thy servant:” ^^^^^

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Those of you who think folks kept the Sabbath before God, via Moses, made them know about His holy Sabbaths, are guilty of calling John and the Holy Spirit what???

All scripture is given by ...

Deut. 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do in the land whither ye go to possess it.

Plainly again, no one knew the laws and statutes until God game them to Moses. Noah was clueless.

Deut. 5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3. The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

14. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservan, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor the stranger that is within they gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

so the stranger that was within the gates of the children of Israel, once the stranger left the gates the stranger was free to work on the Sabbath day.

By comparing scripture with scripture, it is very plain that no one kept the Sabbath until Exodus ch. 12.
