OPENING VERSE:
2 PETER 1:3
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
As I was meditating on this topic, the LORD impressed upon my spirit one morning to talk about how His Power. So I wanted to define it.
The power of God is often understood in spiritual, theological, and philosophical contexts to mean God’s ability to act, create, sustain, and intervene in the world.
Interesting and profound results and so I turn to another AI to define it for me, this time, its Microsofts Gemini:
The concept of the "Power of God" is central to many religions, particularly monotheistic ones like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It generally refers to God's infinite and unlimited ability to do anything that is consistent with His nature and will.
So how can we really define God’s power? Well we look to the Bible - For the bible is the number one resource of truth. Not ChatGPT or Gemini or CoPilot or Deepseek or CloudeAI etc. These Large Language Models can absolutely spit out theological concepts, terminologies and even well researched answers but it’s not necessarily the truth.
POWER - SUPERNATURAL ENERGY FROM GOD
Romans 1:20 (NIV)
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Get this church, this power, this supernatural power that GOD contains - He gives it freely to each and everyone!
Psalm 68:35:
You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary;
the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people.
Praise be to God!
You see the power of GOD is essential in the lives of every Christian. This supernatural and divine energy fills and indwells the bodies and souls of every born-again believer.
BUT we often neglect this power. We think we are mere mortals undeserving of power from GOD! But that is not the case.
Ephesians 3:20:
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,"
According to the POWER AT WORK within us! This is not our own willpower but the power that comes from GODs being himself. God's power working within believers can achieve immeasurably more than we can imagine.
This power, dear church: Pulsates inside the spirit of every believer. For many believers THIS POWER is currently untapped and not put to use at all! Thats the truth.
HOW DOES GOD TRANSFER POWER?
Impartation
Luke 9:1-2
And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal”
Luke 24:49
“And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high”
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you”
Gifts, Talents, Abilities, Skills
James 1:17 (NIV)
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
The gifts are not merely enhanced human abilities, but a divine empowerment that allows believers to do things beyond their natural capacity for God's purposes.
Genesis 4:20-22
– Descendants of Cain
“Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock.
His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.
Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron.”
These verses show early human abilities in music, craftsmanship, and industry—natural talents that are part of God’s design
Exodus 31:1–7 (NIV)
Then the Lord said to Moses,
“See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—
to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze,
to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:
-specific abilities and craftsmanship as a divine gift.
GOD’S GIFTS ARE ALIGNED TO YOUR PURPOSE. Meaning your GIFTINGS are tied to your CALLING.
UNPACKING THE PURPOSE OF GOD - From Seeker to Steward
Every believer goes through a season in their lives! SAY SEASON. These seasons are times of advancement - to achieving our PURPOSE.
Something that is similar to who we view time. Right. Similar to how we each life stage advances too. For a believer it's a stage that starts from SEEKER TO STEWARD.
And I want us to look at the life of PAUL as an example:
Stages
Season
Scripture
Seeker
Conversion & Awakening – Paul is confronted by Christ and begins his journey of transformation.
Acts 9:3–6 – “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?… Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Paul realizes his need for God and submits to Christ’s Lordship.
Acts 9:18–20 – He is baptized and immediately begins proclaiming Jesus.
Student / Disciple
Growth & Formation – Paul spends years learning, growing in the faith, and understanding Scripture through the lens of Christ.
Galatians 1:15–18 – “I did not consult any human being… but I went into Arabia.” (A time of deep theological reflection.)
He is mentored by Barnabas, joins the church in Antioch, and begins developing his ministry.
Acts 11:25–26 – “Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul… for a whole year they met with the church and taught great numbers of people.”
Servant-Leader
Mission and Ministry - Paul becomes a missionary, church planter, and theologian.
Acts 13:2–3 – “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
He preaches, performs miracles, writes letters, and responds to persecution with resilience.
2 Corinthians 11:23–28 – Lists hardships and burdens of ministry.
Paul empowers others: Timothy, Titus, Silas—he disciples and sends them.
2 Timothy 2:2 – “Entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Steward / Master
Legacy & Finishing Well – Paul mentors, defends the faith, and prepares the next generation.
2 Timothy 4:6–8 – “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
He writes theological letters (Romans, Ephesians), confronts false teaching, and stewards doctrine.
Titus 1:5–9 – Instructions to appoint elders who are grounded in sound doctrine.
He embraces his role as a spiritual father and guardian of the church’s truth.
1 Corinthians 4:15 – “Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel.”
Paul’s journey from Seeker to Steward shows us that spiritual growth is a process, not a moment. It requires surrender, discipline, service, and legacy-building.
📖 Philippians 3:12 – “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on…”
Just like Paul, we’re all on a path of spiritual mastery. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s progress rooted in grace, truth, and obedience.
Understand this church - In each stage of Paul Journey, God infuses His Power to Fulfill His Purposes.
Its the same with us! We are filled with GODS power to fulfill our purpose. And so our journey should start with understanding God’s Purpose for us in our lives!
There are no shortcuts to fulfilling our Purpose
Moses – The Long Obedience
Seeker (Novice): Raised in Pharaoh’s house, Moses sensed he was different. He had a call
Student (Competent): For 40 years, he served as a shepherd—anonymously. Learning humility.
Servant-Leader (Experienced): At the burning bush, God called him back. He obeyed—reluctantly. Insecurity, fear, excuses. God didn’t remove those—He worked through them.
Steward (Master): Moses led a nation. Not because he felt ready, but because he had been formed.
📖 Exodus 3:11 – “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?”
David – The Hidden King
Seeker: A forgotten shepherd boy—his own father didn’t consider him fit to be king.
Student / Disciple: Anointed by Samuel, but didn’t rush to the palace. He played the harp in Saul’s court, killed Goliath, then ran for his life for over a decade.
Servant-Leader: In the cave of Adullam, he led misfits and outcasts. He fought Saul’s battles while Saul sought to kill him.
Steward: He became king not just by title—but by God’s preparation.
📖 Psalm 78:72 – “And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.”
Paul – From Zealot to Apostle
Seeker: A zealous Pharisee. Brilliant. Devout. But blinded by religion.
Student / Disciple: After his dramatic encounter with Jesus, Paul didn’t preach immediately. He spent three years in Arabia (Galatians 1:17-18) being taught by the Lord.
Servant-Leader: He spent years in obscurity, then began missionary journeys with Barnabas—planting churches, facing opposition, writing letters from prison.
Steward: Paul became the apostolic voice to the Gentiles. His theology still guides the Church today—not because of speed, but because of submission.
📖 Philippians 3:8-10 – “I consider everything a loss… that I may gain Christ and be found in Him…”
POWER AND PURPOSE
It is critical to understand Gods Purpose for us in our lives so that we can experience His Power.
Your finances or your financial situation should never define your PURPOSE. God Does. The problem with many people today is they tie Purpose to Financial Standing. I’ll give you an example - Say your ambition is to become a DOCTOR - You look at your financial situation and there is no way in life that you can become a DOCTOR! Your parents cant afford it, you dont have the resources to achieve it! BUT SEE, if GODs purpose for you is to become a DOCTOR - then He provides the POWER for it to happen. That is why is clearly important to seek GODS purpose for you in your life. It was the same back then as it is right now. GOD purposed DAVID To be King while he was still a SHEPHERD. God purposed ABRAHAM to be father of all nations before He even had a child -
When God reveals His purpose for you in your life - He will supply the POWER you need to achieve it!
It's as simple as that, dear friends. So if you are not operating in the Purpose of God in your life, you are unable to experience His power at work in you! If you are not working on the purpose of GOD in your life, you are working on your own. And thats why people dont experience success in life!
Say PURPOSE!
Now how do you define SUCCESS?
Think about it, those who have fulfilled their purpose in life are the most successful people in the world.
Now perhaps you are equating success to wealth. It’s not necessarily the case. A poor man with purpose is equally the same with a rich man with purpose. A poor man without a purpose will end up destitute, problematic and depressed. Similar to a rich man without a purpose.
Success is always tied to fulfillment of purpose.
If you give a poor man MONEY without a purpose, he will just waste all the money. Similarly a RICH man will not value money if they don't have a purpose.
Now here’s where it gets interesting - A person with a clear purpose will be sought out by others.
Think about it - who do you go to when you are sick? Who do you turn to when your car breaks down, who do you call when you have electrical issues in your household? Which salon do you go to when you need your hair done? — you will find out that more often than not, you go to someone who has mastered their craft. Someone who has cultivated the gift that GOD has given them. The person who walked in the PURPOSES of GOD in their lives and thereby brought success to them!
I remember a pianist, very close to me in college, she has mastered her craft - and she was at peace with what she was doing - this was Gods PURPOSE for her in her life.
The most miserable people in the world are those who are not living out the PURPOSE of God in their lives! Because they have not used the very power that God has gifted them with.
Well how about the paraplegic, how about the specially gifted, how about the differently abled? I had a classmate in grade school - who was blind, in fact I had several classmates who were completely blind, blind since birth in grade school. One particular blind classmate of mine - his name is JOHN. And he had this unique gifting of recognizing voices. By first introduction, he will never forget your name, I certainly never forgot his name. Despite his blindness - he is able to see in a different light. You see the perception of sight of a blind person, is not the same as the perception of sight of a normal person. A blindman sees the world differently, yes, I said see - they see the world differently, in fact they see it more spectacularly than we even could. I tell you it may be difficult to for us to define what the color blue is to a blind person but ask John about the color blue and he can be poetic about it - he will tell you how blue feels to the touch, he will tell you how the color blue can taste like, He will tell you how the color blue affects your mood, your demeanor.
Brothers and sisters - you might be forgetting - YOU ARE UNIQUELY AND WONDERFULLY MADE - and so this means you are also here for a PURPOSE! The question: do you know God’s purpose for you in your life?
I remember a story of an ice cream vendor in Indonesia. This ice cream vendor was selling infront of a church somewhere in Phuket, Thailand. Ordinary people would pass by and purchase ice cream from her through which - in that few seconds of serving her ice cream, she would invite people to come and attend service at her church. Little by little, people started to listen and eventually she brought 700 people to church just by selling ice cream. Was her ice cream that good? Absolutely - I mean, would you listen and obey an ice cream vendor if the ice cream tasted bad? NO!
Another is a taxi driver - named Gregorio Avalos - Gregorio prayed over his taxi anointed it with oil and every day as he drove his taxi he would talk to his passengers. and began to serve passengers in Barrio Las Flores, where he lived – a city that was also the headquarters for a huge drug cartel.
Eventually, Avalos ran for and became the president of his neighbourhood association. God used Avalos’ new position to introduce men of influence to him, enabling the destruction of Barrio Las Flores’ drug bunkers. That meant they were now able to pave the streets and build sewer systems. Soon, they built a new hospital, school and train station.
In this new and safer city, people now felt safe to came out at night. And when evangelist Carlos Anacondia came to preach at a night rally, over 10,000 people came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.
The Call to Mastery of Purpose vs. The Modern-Day Shortcut Culture
The Modern Contrast: What About Us?
Now… here’s where the mirror turns.
We live in a “now” generation. A world that thrives on instant results, quick gratification, and visible outcomes. And unfortunately, that mindset has crept into the church, into our spiritual lives, into our callings.
We want Moses’ authority without his 40 years of anonymity.
We want David’s crown without David’s cave.
We want mastery… without the process.
You see, Moses spent 40 years in Pharaoh’s palace and another 40 in the wilderness before he ever stood before Pharaoh as God’s messenger.
David was anointed king in secret, then spent more than a decade running for his life, living in caves, misunderstood and mistreated—before he ever sat on the throne.
But us?
We serve in ministry for a season, but when fruit doesn’t show fast enough, we wonder if we misunderstood God.
We pray for spiritual gifts, but we don’t want the trials that come with them.
We want to go from Seeker to Steward in 6 months or less—with a certificate, a following, and applause.
But that’s not how God shapes people.
God’s greatest work in you often happens in the hidden places.
I want to encourage you church - Stay the course, Persevere!
If you’re in your “desert like Moses”, God is forming humility.
If you’re in your “cave like David”, He’s teaching you dependence.
If you’re in your “Arabian silence like Paul”, He’s revealing Himself to you.
PITFALLS TO PURPOSE ACHIEVEMENT:
1. Seeker: lack of clarity, spiritual passivity
2. Student / Disciple: Impatience, shallow commitment, inconsistent habits
3. Servant-Leader: Burnout, pride, comparison, fear of failure
4. Steward (Master): Isolation, complacency, guarding rather than giving.
God’s process of maturity and calling doesn’t function on our timetable.
God is far more interested in forming our character than building our EMPIRES.
He takes His time—because eternal impact requires eternal shaping.
He’s not producing influencers. He INSPIRES servant-stewards.
If you’re in the Seeker stage—don’t rush. Stay teachable.
If you’re in the Student / Disciple stage—don’t resist the grind. This is where God breaks and molds you.
If you’re in the Servant-Leader stage—lead with humility. You’re not done yet.
And if you’ve reached a place of Stewardship—use it to raise others, not elevate yourself.
Because in the kingdom of God, promotion doesn’t come from striving—it comes from surrender.
Romans 10:9 says this:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile —the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
If you want to experience the goodness and love of GOD in your life today and for eternity.
LORD, I surrender my life to you today. I am a sinner in need of your help. Forgive me LORD for my sins and I confess that only you LORD JESUS have died on the cross for me, and rose from the dead for me. Thank you Jesus for reconciling me back to GOD. Thank you JESUS for the gift of eternal life with GOD. Amen!
Welcome to the kingdom of GOD! God’s Supernatural Grace is available to you!
Praise Be To God!
