Summary: Jesus asked this question to the disciples.

The name of Jesus is above any other name. This name cannot be compared to any other name. The name of Jesus is a name that makes demons fear and tremble at the mention of the name of Jesus, the Devil or Satan can never stand whenever the name of Jesus is mentioned.

On the day that Jesus appeared to me and gave me the commission to do his will here on earth, as soon as I called on the name of Jesus, Satan disappeared before I could say the name of Jesus from my mouth, that was the day that I knew the power in the name of Jesus.

The name of Jesus is so powerful that it is recorded that at his name the demons must always bow to the call of his name, a young child can use the name of Jesus, and the demons must bow to the name of Jesus in the mouth of babes.

So, when Jesus asked the disciples the question, who do people say that he was? he was not trying to brag or boast about himself but to prove to them the fact that he was the only begotten son of God and was sent to the earth for a purpose and that he was here to fulfil that purpose. The reason Jesus came was to confirm his Father to the people and to put a stop to the works of Satan - 1 John 3:8.

We have a true and living God who sent his Son to deliver us from the hands of the wicked one, Satan has no right to harass us anymore because the Son of God has come to redeem us from his hands - John 1: 1 - 14; John 11:40; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Hebrews 13:8.

The question that Jesus asked his disciples on that day is still in the mouth of people today, when there are so many atrocities in our world today, the sick is still asking the same question, the poor, the diseased, the people that are losing their loved ones, those that have no jobs, the blind, the lame and so many are still asking God the same question today in their lives and in the lives of their loved ones.

Jesus said in his word that he is the same yesterday, today and forever - Hebrews 13:8.

Jesus came to redeem us all from the curse of the law - Titus 2:14

Jesus has come for us, so that we can be free from every darkness and we are now in his light - John 8:12

Jesus came to deliver us from all evil - 1 John 3:8

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the only way to the kingdom of God and there is no other way to the Father except through his Son Jesus Christ - John 14:6. When we receive him as our personal Lord and Saviour, we can be assured of being in his presence always and forever, in his presence there is fullness of Joy forever - Psalm 16:11.

Jesus came to help us to have faith in God, everywhere Jesus went he would say to us, to have faith in God and that we are to trust in his Father at all times in pain, in sickness and in poverty he says to us that we are to have faith in God - Matthew 17:20 ; 2 Corinthians 5:7 ; 1 John 5:4 ; Mark 10:52 ; Mark 11:24.

Trusting in the name of Jesus is the gateway to our freedom in Christ. In Christ we are free to serve him wholeheartedly and even though the world can be filled with distresses we can trust that the name of Jesus will always save us and help us to live a life of fulfilment in his presence always. The name of Jesus is above every other name and by trusting in his name we are free to know more of him and at the name of Jesus every obstacle will have to come to an end

The name of Jesus is a powerful tool we can use to defeat the enemies at all times. The name of Jesus like we said is no ordinary name and as we have faith in His name every knee bows to the name of Jesus that comes out of our lips, this is why we must be a child of God, born of God for Him who created us in his own image and likeness - John 1:13 ; 1 John 5:1 and 1 John 2:29; 3:9; 4:7 and 5 :4,18.

Remain blessed in his presence always - Amen.
