BECOMING A GARBAGE DUMP
A patient person is better than a warrior, one who controls his temper is better than one who takes a city. (Proverbs 16:32)
News Tempo recorded that in 2012 Indonesia produced 262 million liters of waste per day. If the population of Indonesia is considered to be 250 million people, then the average waste produced per person is more than 1 liter. Just imagine if that waste was not disposed of for a day, there would be a terrible stench, especially if it was not thrown in the right place; no wonder floods always occur.
A writer once said that every healthy human being, in their daily life, must work hard. In carrying out this work, there are many challenges, difficulties, and obstacles experienced, all accumulating into one. Repeated incidents make life feel so pressured, and if there is no healthy self-control, explosive anger will result. That anger is “waste” that must be disposed of every day, but of course, no one wants to be the target of that anger. Only those who have the love of Christ, a big heart, and humility can handle this.
The waste that piles up in our lives is often thrown at those closest to us, which is why it’s no wonder we often hear of arguments happening; because no one wants to be a garbage dump. The longer we become believers or children of God and the more experiences we gain, the true success in life does not depend on how much knowledge we have achieved, but on our daily attitude. Our attitude in dealing with the “waste” thrown at us must be accompanied by mature love, clear thinking, a big heart, humility, open-mindedness, sincerity, willingness to help, and a generous spirit. If all God’s children realized this, how beautiful it would be for those who truly live in God. Proverbs 14:17 “A quick-tempered person does foolish things, and the one who devises evil schemes is hated.”
