The blood of our Savior was poured out for us all. The power in the blood of Jesus is so powerful that at the mention of the blood of Jesus, Satan flees, and demons cannot stand whenever the blood is used. Jesus had to come to our realm to redeem us from the kingdom of Satan, so that we can be brought back into the kingdom of God. As soon as we understand that there is power in the crucifixion of Jesus, we can stand bodily in the presence of our Savior.
In the Old Testament the blood of animals was always used regularly to atone for the sins of the people. The animals that were used had to be animals that had no blemish, the animals had to be spotless, and the priest had to offer his own sacrifice with another animal before he could sacrifice for the other people. The priest would now lay his hands on the animal and confess the sins of the people on the animal, then the sacrifice would be killed on behalf of the people.
The animal sacrifice was done twice a day and annually and in this case several animals was sacrificed on behalf of the people. But in the Old Testament the blood of the animals was not sufficient enough to atone for our sins then. God in his faithfulness had to send his Son into our realm to die for us and he had to be crucified to atone for our sins.
The love that God had for us is so great and in his love for us as his children, Jesus died and redeemed us from the curse of the law. In the Old Testament the animals used to atone for our sins could not free us from the kingdom of Satan, Jesus' was a fore shadow of the new things to come.
This sacrifice was made very often and like we said we were saved by Jesus' death and resurrection. The blood of Jesus was without any form of blemish, and he only had to be sacrificed once, and his blood was accepted by the father on that day that he rose. the resurrection of our Savior made a way for us into the presence of God, and this is why we are the redeemed of the Lord.
Scriptures on the blood of animals in the Old Testament:
Genesis 4: 3 -4
And in the process of time, it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering,
Exodus 29:10 - 14
You shall also have the bull brought before the tabernacle of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall put their hands on the head of the bull. Then you shall kill the bull before the Lord, by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger and pour all the blood beside the base of the altar. And you shall take all the fat that covers the entrails, the fatty lobe attached to the liver, and the two kidneys and the fat that is on them and burn them on the altar. But the flesh of the bull, with its skin and its offal, you shall burn with fire outside the camp. It is a sin offering.
Hebrews 13: 11 - 13
For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. Therefore, Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.
Numbers 6: 10 - 11
Then on the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting; and the priest shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, and make atonement for him, because he sinned in regard to the corpse; and he shall sanctify his head that same day.
Leviticus 12:6
When the days of her purification are fulfilled, whether for a son or a daughter, she shall bring to the priest a lamb [a]of the first year as a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin offering, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
Leviticus 1: 1 - 7
The Burnt Offering
Now the Lord called to Moses, and spoke to him from the tabernacle of meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When any one of you brings an offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of the livestock—of the herd and of the flock.
If his offering is a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it of his own free will at the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the Lord. Then he shall put his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. He shall kill the bull before the Lord; and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall bring the blood and sprinkle the blood all around on the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. And he shall skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces. The sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and lay the wood in order on the fire.
There was no excuse for the priest not to come before God almighty who is holy, and present to God a sacrifice that would not be whole and not acceptable by doing that he himself would have to the prize by being sacrificed. Thus, the sacrifice that he presents before God had to be perfect and again without any form of blemish, not harmed or spoiled. Whenever the priests did their job properly, God would bless his people, but when they failed, God's curses fell on the people.
Therefore, we had to be saved by the power of the blood of Jesus, Jesus came to show us the way back to the kingdom of God, he came, was crucified, buried and rose again. The death of Jesus was the perfect sacrifice that could ever be made, and it was a once and for all sacrifice which paid the prize for our freedom from the kingdom of Satan. We were in bondage and in Colossians 1:13, God had to bring us out of Satan's kingdom into his own Son's kingdom after the resurrection of his Son from the grave.
There was no other way but through the blood of the Lamb. John the Baptist said in John 1:29 " Look! This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus' sacrifice was without blemish and all our sin of yesterday, today and tomorrow has been laid on Jesus. The blood of Jesus was sinless in the book of 1 Peter 1:19: 1 John 3:5 and Isaiah 53:9. This is why the bible says that we should not let sin have dominion over us - Romans 6:14.
To let sin of any kind have dominion over us, is saying that the blood of Jesus is not enough sacrifice for us and that the blood was poured out in vain. That is trampling the death of Jesus which implies that we are disregarded the sacrifice of Jesus and his grace that had been Offered through him.
Scriptures on the blood of Jesus in the New Testament:
Hebrews 9:14
How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [Holy] Spirit willingly offered Himself unblemished [that is, without moral or spiritual imperfection as a sacrifice] to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the ever-living God?
1 John 1:7
but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].
Matthew 26:28
For this is My blood of the [new and better] covenant, which [ratifies the agreement and] is being poured out for many [as a substitutionary atonement] for the forgiveness of sins.
Luke 22:20
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood.
Ephesians 2:13
But now [at this very moment] in Christ Jesus you who once were [so very] far away [from God] have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Revelation 19:13
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
The blood of the new covenant is the only blood that could have saved us from the old ways of an atonement being made. Jesus paid the prize for all. His blood was shed for our freedom, and we can now approach the throne room of grace without guilt or shame because of his blood we are to go boldly before him to receive mercy and grace in our time of need, whenever we fall short of his glory.
The benefits of the power in the blood of Jesus:
- The blood saves
- The blood heals
- The blood delivers
- The blood protects
- The blood shields
We are the children of God and when Jesus was about to go back to heaven, he said that we are to eat his flesh and drink is blood in remembrance of his finished work on the cross on that day that he was crucified - John 6: 53 - 56. The blood of Jesus is to be used as a weapon as well, Revelation 12:11 says we are to overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. Using the blood as a protective weapon will help us to win the battles of life.
We continue this as a series.
Remain blessed in his presence always.
