Summary: When God speaks, you can trust what he says.

The King James Version say:

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

The New International Version (NIV) says:

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”

This verse emphasizes that every promise God has made finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. When we say “Amen,” we are affirming that truth — agreeing with and standing on God’s Word.

It’s a powerful reminder that God is faithful, and His promises are trustworthy, guaranteed, and unchanging through Christ.

Corinthians 1:20, centered on the faithfulness of God’s promises and the blessing that comes from standing on them.

Introduction: The Certainty in a Shifting World is that we are living in a time where promises are often made but rarely kept.

Politicians promise changes that never come.

Friends promise loyalty, and they will stab you in the back the first chance they get.

Advertisements promise happiness, but when you receive the product, many times they don’t work, it not the actual size that you have ordered.

Even in relationships, they promise to love you, be devoted to you, and it seems like every time you look around they are breaking your heart.

In other words when the dust settles, many of those promises are empty, fleeting, and forgotten.

But God is not like man.

He does not speak idle words.

He does not tease us with hope only to withdraw His hand.

Let me see if I can chop this up and serve it to you where you can chew it much easier.

God doesn’t waste words.

He doesn’t offer us hope just to snatch it away.

Instead, He speaks with purpose, and every word He declares is backed by His power, fulfilled in His perfect time.

God never talks just to fill silence.

He doesn’t dangle promises in front of us only to leave us disappointed.

Rather, He speaks with divine intention, and when He says it — you can count on Him to bring it to pass.

God does not make careless declarations.

He doesn’t inspire faith, only to pull back His hand in the moment of need.

No, but what He does is he promises, He performs, He protects, and He provides.”

He protects His people in the time of a storm.

He provides in the time of a famine. In other words, when God speaks, He acts. When God commits, He completes.”

What He begins, He completes.

What He speaks, He brings to life.

Every word He speaks is backed by His power, His nature, and His love.

According to Paul in 2nd Corinthians 1:20, “ALL the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

So, let’s unpack this and we are going to the house.

First, there are the Certainty of God’s Promises

Paul says, “All the promises.” Not some. Not a few. Not just the ones that make sense to us.

But ALL the promises — from Genesis to Revelation — are “yes” in Christ.

When God promised never to leave you nor forsake you — that’s a YES.

When He said He would supply all your need according to His riches in glory — that’s a YES.

When He promised to heal, to deliver, to redeem, and to restore, and set free that a YES and AMEN!

So what does “Amen” mean?

It means “it is so, or so be it.” It is a declaration of agreement, of affirmation, of faith.

It’s like putting your stamp on it and saying, “I believe it. I receive it. It’s done.”

Secondly, There is the Person of the Promise: Jesus Christ

Paul says the promises are “in Him” — meaning Jesus is the guarantor of the guarantee.

Jesus is the fulfillment of every Old Testament prophecy, every divine covenant, every spiritual blessing.

In Him, God sealed every promise with blood of Jesus, not ink, not a marker, but he seals it with the blood of Jesus.

In Him, God showed us that He is not only a promise-maker but he’s a promise-keeper.

When you feel forgotten — remember: it was at the cross where the promise was kept.

When you feel weak — remember: the resurrection was a promise fulfilled.

When you feel uncertain — remember: His return is a promise pending.

The Purpose: For the Glory of God by Us

Why does God make and keep promises?

Paul says: “Unto the glory of God by us.”

That means every promise fulfilled in your life is a testimony — not just to make you comfortable, but to make God known.

When He heals you — it’s for His glory.

When He delivers your child — it’s for His glory.

When He lifts you from depression, from lack, from shame — it’s for His glory.

And here’s the beauty: God invites us to participate in that glory by believing, trusting, and declaring, “Amen!”

The Power of Standing on the Promises

There’s a difference between hearing the promises and standing on them.

To stand means:

To plant your feet, when the storm is raging.

To stand means, to refuse to bow when the devil is whispering lies.

To stand means, to keep speaking God’s Word even when nothing around you seems to agree.

But what I have learned my brother and sisters, is that you can’t stand on what you don’t know.

That’s why you’ve got to read the Word.

You’ve got to meditate on the promises.

You’ve got to pray them, sing them, and declare them.

And when you do — just listen to the Word — and blessing will follow.

Peace will follow.

Power will follow.

Breakthrough will follow.

Revival will follow.

Because the Word of God cannot return void.

I’m reminded of a story.

A little boy was riding in the car with his father during a heavy storm. The rain was pounding the windshield, lightning flashed across the sky, and thunder shook the car. The boy, nervous and afraid, asked, “Daddy, are we gonna be okay?”

The father smiled and said, “Yes, son. We’ll be fine. Just hold on.”

A few minutes later, the rain got even worse. The boy looked over, more afraid this time, “Daddy, are you sure?”

This time, the father reached over and grabbed his son’s hand and said, “Son, I told you we’re going to be okay — and my word is enough.”

As they were riding on a little farther, the car was slipping and sliding, and the father looked at the son and said just hold on to my hand and it will be alright.

And you know what?

They made it through.

Not because the rain stop pouring.

Not because the thunder stopped clapping.

Not because the lightning stopped zigzagging,

And not because the storm stopped — but it was because the boy trusted the one who promised, and the one who hand he was holding.

I’ve got to stop, but Church, some of you are riding through storms.

The thunder is loud.

The rain is heavy, and the lightning is flashing.

But your Heavenly Father has spoken:

You shall live and not die.”

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

Stand on it.

Don’t flinch.

Don’t fold.

Don’t fear.

Because the promises of God — in Christ Jesus — are YES and AMEN.

Let the Church say amen, let the church say AMEN, for God has spoken.
