INTRODUCTION:
There are seasons in life when we feel forgotten—by people, by systems, and sometimes even by God. Yet the Scriptures assure us that God never forgets His own. When we say, “Remember me, O Lord,” we are not reminding a forgetful God but appealing to His covenant, mercy, and faithfulness. Hannah’s cry was not ignored; God remembered her and changed her story. Today, you may be in a waiting season, but God will remember you and grant your petition.
1. DIVINE REMEMBRANCE ENDS LONGSTANDING DELAYS
a) God remembers those who cry to Him continually (1 Samuel 1:10–11):
Hannah poured out her soul in prayer, and heaven took notice. Persistent prayer moves the hand of God.
b) Delay is not denial when God is involved (Habakkuk 2:3):
Divine timing may seem slow, but it’s always perfect.
c) God’s remembrance results in supernatural conception of promises (Genesis 21:1):
Just as Sarah was remembered, God will perform what He promised.
d) When God remembers, shame is turned to honour (Isaiah 61:7):
The reproach of barrenness was taken away from Hannah.
Biblical Example: God remembered Rachel, and she conceived and bore Joseph (Genesis 30:22–24).
2. DIVINE REMEMBRANCE COMES WITH FAVOUR AND LIFTING
a) God’s remembrance is often followed by favour (Psalm 106:4):
When God remembers you, He favours you before men.
b) Divine remembrance brings promotion and elevation (Genesis 8:1):
Noah’s status changed after God remembered him.
c) The favour of God neutralises human rejection (Psalm 102:13):
When God favours you, every “No” turns to “Yes.”
d) God’s lifting establishes divine purpose (Deuteronomy 28:13):
Divine remembrance always leads to divine promotion.
Biblical Example: Mordecai was remembered and promoted after the king read the book of records (Esther 6:1–11).
3. DIVINE REMEMBRANCE IS A COVENANT RESPONSE
a) God remembers His covenant with His people (Exodus 2:24–25):
He acts based on His promises and His Word.
b) Obedience and commitment attract divine remembrance (Nehemiah 13:14):
Those who serve faithfully are never forgotten by God.
c) God remembers His people when they walk in holiness (Deuteronomy 8:18):
He honours the covenant of obedience with blessing.
d) The mercy of God keeps His covenant active (Lamentations 3:22–23):
We are not consumed because He is faithful.
Biblical Example: Nehemiah prayed, “Remember me, O my God,” and God honoured his leadership and dedication (Nehemiah 5:19).
4. DIVINE REMEMBRANCE BRINGS SALVATION AND RESTORATION
a) When God remembers, He redeems (Exodus 6:5–6):
God sent Moses to deliver Israel after remembering His promise.
b) Divine remembrance breaks the yoke of bondage (Psalm 136:23–24):
He remembered us in our low estate and delivered us.
c) When men forget you, God never does (Isaiah 49:15–16):
Even if a mother forgets her child, God cannot forget you.
d) Divine remembrance can lead to instant transformation (Luke 1:68):
God's visitation always comes with deliverance.
Biblical Example: The thief on the cross asked Jesus to remember him, and he received eternal salvation (Luke 23:42–43).
5. OUR RESPONSE TO DIVINE REMEMBRANCE
a) Live a life that God will remember (Acts 10:4):
Cornelius’ prayers and alms came up as a memorial before God.
b) Engage in sacrificial prayer and service (1 Samuel 1:27–28):
Hannah made a vow and fulfilled it, leading to divine multiplication.
c) Be faithful even when it looks like God is silent (Galatians 6:9):
In due season, you will reap if you faint not.
d) Thank God in advance for remembering you (Philippians 4:6):
Gratitude positions you to receive more.
Biblical Example: Hezekiah reminded God of his faithful walk, and God added fifteen years to his life (Isaiah 38:2–5).
CONCLUSION:
God’s remembrance is not based on our ability to remind Him, but on His covenant, mercy, and love. However, we can call upon Him in faith and position ourselves through obedience, sacrifice, and faithfulness. Just as Hannah, Rachel, Cornelius, and the thief on the cross were remembered, you too shall be remembered for good. Cry out today—“Remember me, O Lord”—and expect divine answers.
