INTRODUCTION:
God is not distant from the affairs of His children. He is actively involved, especially when they face impossible situations. Divine intervention means that God steps into a human situation to cause a supernatural turnaround. In Exodus 14, when the Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, God told them to stand still—because He was about to intervene.
The God who intervenes is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not abandon His own in the day of trouble. While men may be limited by natural laws, resources, or knowledge, God is not bound by such. He steps in with power, with wisdom, and with miraculous deliverance.
In a world full of fear, conflict, and danger, we must be reminded that God still fights for His people. When we call on Him in faith, He moves mightily on our behalf. This message will stir your faith to trust God completely, for He is the God who intervenes.
1. GOD INTERVENES IN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS
a) God specialises in the impossible (Luke 1:37):
What is too hard for men is just an opportunity for God to show His power.
b) He allows crisis to reveal His glory (John 11:4):
Sometimes, the challenge is permitted so that God’s intervention brings greater honour to His name.
c) He makes a way where there is no way (Isaiah 43:19):
When trapped at the Red Sea, God made a new path through the waters.
d) He is never late, but always on time (John 11:21-25):
God’s intervention may not follow human timing, but it is always perfect.
Biblical Example: God parted the Red Sea for Israel to escape (Exodus 14:21-22).
2. GOD INTERVENES TO FIGHT FOR HIS PEOPLE
a) The battle belongs to God (2 Chronicles 20:15):
When the enemy rises against God’s children, He rises to defend them.
b) He silences the accuser and frustrates the enemy (Isaiah 54:17):
No weapon formed against you shall prosper when God steps in.
c) He puts fear into the camp of the enemy (Exodus 15:14-16):
God’s intervention causes your enemies to tremble.
d) His intervention brings lasting peace (Psalm 46:10):
When God fights, there is no need to fear or struggle.
Biblical Example: God caused confusion among enemy kings and delivered Judah (2 Chronicles 20:22-24).
3. GOD INTERVENES IN RESPONSE TO PRAYER AND FAITH
a) God hears the cry of His people (Exodus 3:7):
When you call upon God sincerely, He responds with power.
b) Prayer activates divine intervention (James 5:16):
Effectual fervent prayers move the hand of God in critical moments.
c) Faith invites God into your situation (Hebrews 11:6):
When you believe, even in impossible moments, God shows up.
d) God delights in rescuing the helpless (Psalm 34:17-18):
The broken-hearted and needy are never ignored by Him.
Biblical Example: The church prayed for Peter and God sent an angel to release him (Acts 12:5-10).
4. GOD INTERVENES TO SHOW HIS FAITHFULNESS
a) God keeps His promises (Numbers 23:19):
His intervention is a demonstration that He never lies.
b) He remembers His covenant (Genesis 9:15-16):
God steps in to fulfil what He has spoken over your life.
c) His past acts are a guarantee of future help (Psalm 77:11):
God’s track record assures us that He is dependable.
d) His intervention brings testimony and worship (Psalm 40:3):
When God moves, people see it and glorify Him.
Biblical Example: Daniel was delivered from the lions as proof of God's faithfulness (Daniel 6:22).
5. GOD INTERVENES TO LIFT HIS NAME AMONG THE NATIONS
a) Divine intervention glorifies God (John 9:3):
Every miracle points to the greatness of God.
b) He uses interventions to draw people to Himself (Acts 9:35):
Testimonies of deliverance cause others to believe.
c) God showcases His power above all powers (Isaiah 40:25):
His intervention silences every opposition.
d) When God steps in, His name is exalted (Philippians 2:9-11):
Every intervention is a call to bow before His majesty.
Biblical Example: Elijah called on God and fire fell from heaven, turning hearts back to God (1 Kings 18:36-39).
CONCLUSION:
God’s intervention is not a thing of the past. He is still stepping into lives, families, nations, and situations today. When God intervenes, no power can resist Him. The God who parted the sea, shut the lions’ mouths, and released captives is the same God working for you now.
Whatever you are facing, trust in the God who intervenes. He will fight for you, make a way for you, and glorify His name through you. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
