Message Point: We must be conscious of what we do to make sure we do it in the Spirit to the Glory of God!

Focus Passage: Galatians 6:1-10

Introduction: I recently found a group picture from my first piano recital from the early 1970’s. I looked sharp in my light blue sports coat and white shoes. I noticed another girl in the photo that I reconnected with in college. She could play the piano like a master and that wasn’t even her field of study. She could read music and improvise incredibly well. I, meanwhile, can play a few songs in the key of C and can only read one line of music at a time, and that is to sing. I despised practicing the piano. I had other things on my mind. I didn’t invest my time wisely and now, at 60 years old, my friend can play for a church and I can pound out a few hymns with only a melody and chords.

I. Restore with Grace

a. My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:19-20 NASB)

b. "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. (Matthew 18:15 NASB)

c. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12 NASB)

II. Bear Each Other’s Burdens

a. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. (Romans 12:15 KJV)

b. And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart. (Ecclesiastes 4:12 NASB)

c. We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. (1 Thessalonians 5:14 NASB)

III. Sowing in the Spirit

a. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; (Matthew 6:19-20 NASB)

b. Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; (Hosea 10:12a ESV)

c. Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (2 Corinthians 9:6 NASB)

Application/Call to Obedience: The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says that God demonstrates His love for us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And Romans 10:9-10 says that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
