INTRODUCTION:

The resurrection of Jesus is not just a past event; it is a divine transition point for every believer. Romans 6:4 makes it clear that as Christ was raised from the dead, we also are raised into a new life. The cross was the place of death, but the empty tomb is the sign of a new beginning. Jesus’ resurrection gives us access to a transformed life—a life of righteousness, power, and victory over sin and death.

To move from death to life means more than escaping physical death. It is the miracle of being made spiritually alive through Christ. The resurrection is not just about Jesus coming out of the grave—it is about us stepping into a new dimension of living, filled with purpose, joy, and eternal hope.

1. THE OLD LIFE IS CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST

The resurrection invites us to bury the old life of sin.

a) We are no longer slaves to sin

Through Christ’s death, the power of sin over us was broken (Romans 6:6).

b) The sinful nature was nailed to the cross

Our past, with its guilt and shame, died with Him (Galatians 5:24).

c) We are called to die daily to the flesh

Dying to self is a daily commitment to follow Jesus (Luke 9:23).

d) Freedom begins at the cross

True liberty starts with crucifying the old man (Colossians 2:14).

Biblical Example: Paul, once Saul the persecutor, crucified his past and embraced a new life in Christ (Acts 9:1–22).

2. THE NEW LIFE IS POWERED BY THE RESURRECTION

Resurrection power is the engine of the believer’s new life.

a) Christ’s resurrection gives us new life

We are spiritually reborn through His victory (Ephesians 2:5-6).

b) This life is rooted in righteousness

We now live to please God, empowered by grace (Titus 2:11-12).

c) We have resurrection power within us

The same Spirit that raised Jesus now dwells in us (Romans 8:11).

d) Our lives reflect the risen Christ

We are ambassadors of the living Lord (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Biblical Example: Lazarus experienced resurrection and lived as a testimony to Jesus' power (John 12:1-11).

3. WE ARE CALLED TO WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE

New life is not just a concept—it is a calling.

a) We are new creations in Christ

The old is gone, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17).

b) Our thoughts and actions must reflect the new life

A renewed mind brings transformed living (Romans 12:2).

c) We walk in faith, not fear

New life gives us boldness and spiritual authority (2 Timothy 1:7).

d) We pursue holiness and purpose

This life is marked by growth and fruitfulness (John 15:5).

Biblical Example: The woman caught in adultery walked away from her past into a new path after encountering Christ (John 8:10-11).

4. THIS NEW LIFE GUARANTEES ETERNAL HOPE

Resurrection life is not temporal—it is eternal.

a) We are raised for eternal life

Jesus is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).

b) We no longer fear death

Death has lost its sting through Christ (1 Corinthians 15:55-57).

c) Heaven is our eternal destination

We are citizens of a heavenly kingdom (Philippians 3:20).

d) We have assurance of our resurrection

Because He lives, we will live also (John 14:19).

Biblical Example: The thief on the cross moved from death to eternal life through faith in the dying Saviour (Luke 23:42-43).

5. WE ARE COMMISSIONED TO SPREAD THIS NEW LIFE

What we have received must be shared with the world.

a) We are witnesses of His resurrection

Our lives must testify to the risen Lord (Acts 1:8).

b) We are called to reconcile others to God

New life makes us ministers of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).

c) We must declare the Gospel of life

The world needs the message of the cross and the empty tomb (Romans 1:16).

d) We must reflect resurrection power daily

Our joy, peace, and boldness are proof of His life in us (Galatians 2:20).

Biblical Example: Mary Magdalene ran to announce Christ’s resurrection, becoming the first evangelist of the risen Saviour (John 20:16-18).

CONCLUSION:

Jesus did not rise just to prove a point—He rose to make us alive. The resurrection is your invitation to leave behind every form of death: sin, shame, guilt, defeat, and fear. He calls you from death to life, from darkness to light, and from despair to hope. Embrace the life He offers and walk boldly in the power of His resurrection. Because He lives, you are alive!

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me from death to life.

2. Father, empower me to walk daily in the newness of life.

3. I declare that sin, shame, and fear no longer have power over me.

4. Holy Spirit, let resurrection power flow through every area of my life.

5. Use me as a vessel to bring others from death to life in Christ.
