INTRODUCTION:

The cross of Jesus Christ remains the most powerful symbol of love, sacrifice, and redemption. It was on that rugged cross that heaven’s mercy met humanity’s misery. Jesus willingly bore unimaginable pain so that we could experience eternal gain. His pain was not in vain—it was our access to life, hope, and restoration.

When we reflect on the suffering of Christ, we must never view it as a tragedy but as a triumph. Every lash, every mockery, every drop of blood was a price paid in full for our freedom from sin, curse, shame, and death. What He endured was not because of His own fault, but because of our faults.

This message, “His Pains, My Gains,” draws our hearts back to the cross. It challenges us to appreciate what Jesus suffered and to live daily in the victory that His suffering has purchased for us.

1. HIS PAIN BROUGHT US FORGIVENESS

The cross was where the Lamb of God took away the sin of the world.

a) Sin Separated Us from God: All have sinned and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23).

b) Jesus Took Our Place: He became the substitute for our punishment (Isaiah 53:5).

c) The Blood Cleanses Completely: His blood speaks better things than that of Abel (Hebrews 12:24).

d) Now We Are Justified Freely: Through His pain, we are made righteous (Romans 5:9).

Biblical Example: The thief on the cross was forgiven and granted eternal life (Luke 23:39–43).

2. HIS PAIN BROUGHT US HEALING

The lashes on His back paid for our physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

a) He Bore Our Infirmities: Jesus felt every pain we feel (Matthew 8:17).

b) By His Stripes, We Are Healed: Healing is part of our redemption (1 Peter 2:24).

c) Healing Flows from the Cross: There is still power in the blood for healing today.

d) We Are No Longer Slaves to Sickness: Christ carried it all on the cross (Isaiah 53:4).

Biblical Example: The woman with the issue of blood touched His garment and was made whole (Mark 5:25–34).

3. HIS PAIN BROUGHT US PEACE

Through the cross, our restless souls have found peace with God.

a) We Had No Peace Before: Sin created enmity with God (Isaiah 57:20–21).

b) The Chastisement of Our Peace Was on Him: He suffered to secure our inner rest (Isaiah 53:5).

c) Peace Is Now a Covenant Right: Jesus is the Prince of Peace (John 14:27).

d) We Can Now Approach God Boldly: The veil was torn, granting us access (Hebrews 4:16).

Biblical Example: The demoniac of Gadara received peace after meeting Jesus (Mark 5:1–15).

4. HIS PAIN BROUGHT US VICTORY

The cross wasn’t defeat—it was the beginning of total victory.

a) Jesus Defeated Death and Hell: He rose triumphantly on the third day (Revelation 1:18).

b) He Disarmed Principalities: The cross embarrassed hell (Colossians 2:15).

c) We Now Walk in Authority: His name gives us power (Luke 10:19).

d) We Are More Than Conquerors: Our victory is permanent (Romans 8:37).

Biblical Example: Paul cast out a spirit from a girl in Philippi, empowered by Jesus’ name (Acts 16:16–18).

5. HIS PAIN BROUGHT US BLESSINGS

Through His sacrifice, the blessing of Abraham has come to us.

a) He Became a Curse for Us: That we might inherit the blessing (Galatians 3:13).

b) Every Curse Is Broken: The power of sin, poverty, and stagnation is destroyed.

c) We Are Now Heirs of Promise: In Christ, we are blessed beyond measure (Ephesians 1:3).

d) The Cross Opened the Door to Abundance: God now supplies all our needs (Philippians 4:19).

Biblical Example: Jabez was once under pain, but through God’s favour, he was blessed (1 Chronicles 4:9–10).

CONCLUSION:

Jesus did not endure the cross for Himself—He did it for you and me. Every drop of blood, every stripe, every nail was a divine transaction for our redemption. The cross turned our pain into purpose, our shame into glory, our defeat into dominion, and our hell into heaven.

Let us never take His sacrifice lightly. Let us live in the fullness of what He has done for us. Because of His pain, we have gained everything. Embrace the cross, walk in your victory, and live as one who has been truly redeemed.
