Summary: Joseph

Acts 7:9-16 Joseph

1. His Trials -

Their Source - 9 And the patriarchs, moved with envy,

Their Severity - sold Joseph into Egypt:

Their Solace - but God was with him,

2. His Trust - In -

The Sovereignty of God - 9 but God was with him

The Security of God - 10 and delivered him out of all his afflictions,

The Sufficiency of God - and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh king of Egypt;

The Supremacy of God - and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

3. His Triumph -

Over Dearth - The Preparation -

It's Scale - 11 Now there came a dearth over all the land of Egypt and Chanaan,

It's Scar - and great affliction:

It's Scheme - and our fathers found no sustenance.

As Predicted, Promised, Presented, and Portrayed to Abraham.

Over Death - The Provision -

Life's Provision 12 But when Jacob heard that there was corn in Egypt

Life's Pursuit - he sent out our fathers,

Life's Priority - first.

Over Delay - The Prevention - 13 And at the second time - 2 Peter 3:

His Power - 7 but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store,

His Purpose - reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

His Patience - 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

His Promise - 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;

but is longsuffering to us-ward,

His Prize - not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Over Denial - The Proclamation Joseph was made known to his brethren

Revelation Ch. 1

The Voice - 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me

The Vision - And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

The Visitor - 13 and in the midst of the seven candlesticks

His Appearance - one like unto the Son of man,

His Apparel - clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

His Appeal - 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow;

His Appraisal - and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

His Approach - 15 and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;

and his voice as the sound of many waters.

His Approval - 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

The Vanquished - 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.

The Victor - And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

The Victory - 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold,I am alive for evermore, Amen;

and have the keys of hell and of death.

Over Doubt -

The Presentation - and Joseph’s kindred was made known unto Pharaoh - John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

4. His Tribute -

The Call - 14 Then sent Joseph,

The Called - and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls

The Calling -

The Deliverance - 15 So Jacob went down into Egypt,

The Delay - and died, he, and our fathers,

The Destination - 16 and were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor the father of Sychem.
