INTRODUCTION:
The Good News of Jesus Christ is the greatest message ever given to mankind. It is the message of salvation, hope, and eternal life. Jesus commanded His followers to take this message to the ends of the earth (Mark 16:15). The gospel is not meant to be hidden but to be proclaimed so that others may come to know Christ and receive the gift of salvation.
From the early church to the present day, the call to evangelism remains a central mission for every believer. The world is filled with people who are lost, hurting, and in need of God's love. Sharing the Good News is not just a responsibility but a privilege and a demonstration of our love for God and humanity.
However, many believers struggle with sharing their faith due to fear, lack of knowledge, or indifference. Understanding the importance, urgency, and method of sharing the gospel will help us fulfil Christ’s command and bring many souls into the kingdom of God.
1. THE GOOD NEWS: WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT MATTERS
The gospel is the message of God’s love and salvation through Jesus Christ.
a) The gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16).
It has the power to change lives and bring people into eternal life.
b) Jesus Christ is the centre of the Good News (John 14:6).
The message is about Jesus’ death, resurrection, and His offer of salvation.
c) Everyone needs to hear the Good News (Romans 3:23).
All have sinned and need the grace of God.
d) The gospel brings hope and transformation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
It changes lives and gives a new beginning.
e) Biblical Example: The Samaritan Woman (John 4:28-30).
After encountering Jesus, she shared the Good News with her village.
2. THE URGENCY OF SHARING THE GOSPEL
Time is short, and many are perishing without Christ.
a) Jesus is coming soon, and souls must be saved (Revelation 22:12).
We must work while there is still time.
b) People die daily without hearing about Jesus (Hebrews 9:27).
There is no second chance after death.
c) The harvest is plentiful, but workers are few (Matthew 9:37-38).
Many are ready to receive Christ, but few share the gospel.
d) The enemy fights to keep people in darkness (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Satan blinds the minds of unbelievers.
e) Biblical Example: Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-39).
Philip acted immediately and led the eunuch to salvation.
3. METHODS OF SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
Every believer can share the gospel in different ways.
a) Personal evangelism – One-on-one sharing (John 1:41-42).
Andrew brought Peter to Jesus through a personal conversation.
b) Preaching and teaching (2 Timothy 4:2).
Ministers are called to boldly proclaim the Word.
c) Media and technology (Psalm 96:3).
Using social media, television, and literature to spread the gospel.
d) Lifestyle evangelism (Matthew 5:16).
Living a Christlike life that attracts others to Jesus.
e) Biblical Example: Paul used different methods to spread the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:22).
He adapted to reach different people with the message of salvation.
4. OVERCOMING FEAR AND HINDRANCES IN EVANGELISM
Many believers hesitate to share the gospel due to various fears.
a) Fear of rejection (John 15:18-20).
Jesus warned that the world would hate His followers.
b) Lack of knowledge (2 Timothy 2:15).
Studying the Word equips us to share the gospel effectively.
c) Feeling unqualified (Exodus 4:10-12).
God empowers those He calls, just like He did with Moses.
d) Indifference and spiritual laziness (Proverbs 24:11-12).
Souls are perishing, and we must take responsibility.
e) Biblical Example: Jeremiah overcame his fear of speaking (Jeremiah 1:6-9).
God gave him boldness to proclaim His Word.
5. THE REWARD OF SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
God blesses those who win souls for His kingdom.
a) There is joy in heaven over every soul saved (Luke 15:7).
Angels rejoice when sinners repent.
b) Evangelism leads to spiritual growth (Philemon 1:6).
Sharing the gospel strengthens our faith.
c) God rewards soul winners (Daniel 12:3).
They will shine like the stars forever.
d) It pleases God when we obey His command (Matthew 28:19-20).
Fulfilling the Great Commission brings God’s blessings.
e) Biblical Example: Paul looked forward to the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
He knew a reward awaited him for his labour in the gospel.
CONCLUSION:
Sharing the Good News is not optional; it is a divine command. Every believer is called to be a witness for Christ and to lead others to salvation. The world is in desperate need of hope, and we carry the message that can change lives. Let us rise with boldness and take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Do not wait for the perfect moment—start where you are. Whether through personal conversations, media, or our daily lifestyle, we must ensure that the Good News reaches as many as possible. Heaven is waiting to rejoice over the souls we bring into the kingdom.
