FLAT EARTH, SOLAR SYSTEM, AND GALAXIES: A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE
(by brother Tarran Dookie)
NO PLURALITY OF WORLDS
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. There is no mention of galaxies or planets, either in Genesis or any other book of the Bible. There is also no compelling evidence that galaxies or planets exist. People have been fed a lie about galaxies and planets for centuries. The deception is similar to the falsehood about evolution. Christians should follow the word of God and not the vain imaginations and theories of men.
Gen 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Man was created to rule over the earth. He is to subdue it and have dominion over the fish, the fowl and creatures of the earth. There is no possibility of man venturing beyond earth's atmosphere, no matter what is touted about space ventures and so-called moon landings.
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.
The word 'worlds' used in Heb 1:2 is the Greek word 'aionas' which means ages. The same Greek word is used in Eph 1:21, Luke 18:30, Mat 12:32 (speaking of this age and the age to come). The word 'worlds' used in Heb 1:2 has nothing to do with so-called planets and galaxies.
Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
Earth was not created in vain; it was formed to be inhabited. No other place (be it called Mars, Jupiter, etc.) was created to be inhabited and will never be inhabited. Indeed such places will never even be visited, for they exist only in the imagination of vain men.
Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
The stars of heaven falling to earth shows their nearness to earth and that they are relatively small and not huge.
THE FIRMAMENT
Gen 1:6-8 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Jer 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
A firmament called heaven was made by God. The firmament serves as a divider as waters above the firmament were divided from waters below the firmament. The Hebrew word for firmament is 'raqiya' and refers to the vault of heaven supporting waters above. 'Raqiya' is considered by Hebrews as a solid expanse.
Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
In the days of Noah the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened, resulting in the great flood. God caused the waters divided by the firmament to operate together in bringing about the deluge.
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
Deut 26:15 Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
Ps 102:19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth.
Ps 103:11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
Those who were building the tower of Babel intended for the tower to reach heaven. However, the scriptures clearly show that heaven or the firmament is high above the earth. It was impossible for the tower of Babel to reach heaven. The folly of those who were building the tower of Babel is replicated in the folly of men who desire to reach the moon and so-called planets. Their failure is certain as all their attempts shall be futile.
Prov 25:3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
Jer 31:37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
The height of heaven and the depth of the earth are unsearchable. The heaven above cannot be measured, nor foundations of the earth searched out beneath. Any attempt to do so is futile and vain.
Ps 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Job 37:18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
The firmament shows God's handiwork. The sky or firmament is strong and like a molten looking glass. It is impenetrable and man's puny rockets cannot break through. Any claims to the contrary are lies and hoaxes.
Ezek 1:22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
Ezek 1:26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Ezek 10:1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.
The likeness of the firmament above is as terrible crystal and the likeness of the throne as sapphire stone. There is a sea of glass like crystal before God's throne. Even as the firmament is impenetrable, so too is God's throne. This is hallowed ground and no so called spacecraft or rockets can ever get near.
THE EARTH AND THE SEA
Gen 1:9-10 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
2Pet 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Ps 24:1-2 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.
Ps 136:6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
The earth was not combined with the seas to form the world. Waters under heaven were gathered together (Seas) and dry land appeared (Earth). The earth was founded upon the waters. God stretched out the earth above the waters. Prior to this the surface of the waters had nothing and were an empty place.
LIGHTS IN THE FIRMAMENT
Gen 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Ps 136:7-9 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever: The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever: The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name.
Lights (sun, moon and stars) were set by God in the firmament to give light upon the earth. The sun is the greater light and rules the day, while the moon is the lesser light and with the stars rules the night. The lights were also for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years. The lights are independent of each other so that the moon does not depend on the sun for its light.
The first chapter of Genesis makes it clear that the earth was created before the sun, moon and stars. The lights in the firmament are subservient to the earth. The earth is the centre, not the sun.
Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Ezek 32:7 And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
1Cor 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
Stars and their constellations have their light as well as the moon. These lights are not dependent on the sun. Neither does the Bible nor true science teach that the light of the moon is a reflection of the sun. The glory of the sun, moon and stars differ from one another.
MOVEMENT OF SUN AND MOON
Ps 19:4-6 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
God set a tabernacle for the sun. The sun goes forth from the end of heaven and its circuit unto the ends of heaven. Unlike the earth that does not move, the sun moves in its circuit every day.
Eccl 1:5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
Judg 5:31 So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
The sun rises and goes down. The sun goes forth in his might. The sun moves and is not still.
Josh 10:12-13 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
The earth does not move but the sun and moon move. To achieve his objective Joshua did not command the earth to stand still for it was already still and immovable. Rather it was the sun and moon that stood still at Joshua's command.
2Kgs 20:8-11 And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
The shadow of the sun went backwards as a sign to Hezekiah that the Lord would heal him. The movement of the shadow of the sun depended on the movement of the sun itself.
Job 9:6-7 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Hab 3:11 The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
God does command the sun and the moon to stand still at times.
THE EARTH HAS PILLARS AND FOUNDATIONS
1Sam 2:8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.
1Chr 16:30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
Job 38:4-6 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
Ps 75:3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
Ps 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Ps 104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
The Lord has set the world or earth on pillars. He has laid the foundations and corner stone of the earth. The earth is stable and does not move. The verses above make it clear that the earth does not move. It should be clear that the earth is not a spinning ball. It does not rotate on an axis. It does not revolve around the sun. There is no such thing as a solar system in reality.
FLATNESS OF THE EARTH
Gen 7:17-20,24 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered... And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
The flood waters could not prevail upon a globe as it would be constantly running off and being emptied into the sea. However, the flood waters could prevail on a flat earth as they certainly did.
Ps 104:6-8 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
The flood described is consistent with the earth being a plane founded on the seas.
Job 28:24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven.
God looks to the ends of the earth and sees under the whole heaven. This makes sense if the earth is flat and not spherical.
Prov 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth.
Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.
God set a compass or circle upon the face of the deep. He made a circle upon the face of the deep and not a ball.
Isa 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.
Jer 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
Zech 9:10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.
The earth is spread out. Ends of the earth do not make sense if the earth is spherical.
Matt 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.
It was possible for Jesus to see all the kingdoms of the world from an exceeding high mountain. This would only be possible if the earth is a plane, flat rather than global or spherical.
Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Every eye shall see Him is logical if the earth is flat rather than spherical.
THE NEW HEAVENS AND EARTH
Rev 21:1--3 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Rev 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
In the eternal day God will dwell with His people upon the new earth. The new earth will be the centre, not the sun for the new earth will have neither sun nor moon. The new earth will be the eternal habitation of God's people.
