WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, EVERYTHING CHANGES
By Rev. Samuel Arimoro
Main Text: John 2:1-11 (KJV)
And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him."

INTRODUCTION:
The presence of Jesus makes the difference in every situation. When Jesus shows up, things that seem impossible become possible. He turns sorrow into joy, lack into abundance, and hopelessness into testimonies. His presence carries power, and wherever He is invited, He brings transformation.
The wedding at Cana was about to end in embarrassment due to a shortage of wine, but because Jesus was there, a miracle happened. His presence ensured that shame was turned into celebration. This is what happens when Jesus enters any situation—things change for the better.
This sermon will examine five key ways in which everything changes when Jesus shows up: situations turn around, problems are solved, the impossible becomes possible, lives are transformed, and His glory is revealed.
1. WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, SITUATIONS TURN AROUND
No matter how bad things seem, His presence brings divine intervention.
a) He turns sorrow into joy (John 2:9-10)
The lack of wine at the wedding could have caused disgrace, but Jesus turned it into a celebration.
b) He turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11)
His presence changes sadness into rejoicing.
c) He brings beauty out of ashes (Isaiah 61:3)
No situation is too ruined for Him to restore.
d) He restores lost hope (Luke 7:12-15)
The widow of Nain had lost her son, but Jesus restored her joy by raising him back to life.
2. WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED
What seems impossible for man becomes easy when Jesus intervenes.
a) He makes a way where there is no way (Isaiah 43:19)
Even in the wilderness, He provides a path.
b) He speaks peace to every storm (Mark 4:39)
The disciples feared for their lives, but Jesus calmed the storm with a word.
c) He meets every need supernaturally (Philippians 4:19)
He provides for His people beyond human understanding.
d) He brings divine solutions (Matthew 17:27)
Peter needed money for tax, and Jesus miraculously provided it through a fish’s mouth.
e) Biblical Example: The Feeding of the Five Thousand (John 6:5-13)
Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed a multitude, solving an impossible problem.
3. WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE
There is nothing beyond His power to change.
a) He raises the dead (John 11:43-44)
Lazarus had been dead for four days, but when Jesus spoke, life returned.
b) He heals incurable diseases (Matthew 8:2-3)
The leper was healed instantly by His touch.
c) He makes the barren fruitful (Genesis 21:1-2)
Sarah conceived even at an old age because of God’s intervention.
d) He restores wasted years (Joel 2:25)
What was lost can be recovered when He is involved.
e) Biblical Example: The Healing of the Paralysed Man (Mark 2:1-12)
Jesus healed the paralysed man and forgave his sins, making the impossible possible.
4. WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, LIVES ARE TRANSFORMED
He changes people from the inside out.
a) He delivers from bondage (Luke 8:27-35)
The demon-possessed man was set free and became a testimony.
b) He changes destinies (1 Samuel 2:8)
He lifts the poor from the dust and places them in high positions.
c) He gives new identities (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Whoever is in Christ is a new creation.
d) He forgives and restores (John 8:10-11)
The woman caught in adultery received mercy and a new beginning.
e) Biblical Example: Saul’s Transformation to Paul (Acts 9:1-22)
The persecutor of the church became one of its greatest apostles when Jesus encountered him.
5. WHEN JESUS SHOWS UP, HIS GLORY IS REVEALED
His presence reveals divine power and authority.
a) Miracles manifest His power (John 2:11)
The miracle at Cana was a demonstration of His glory.
b) His presence draws people to God (John 12:32)
When He is lifted, lives are drawn to Him.
c) He confirms His word with signs (Mark 16:20)
His word never fails when He is involved.
d) He reveals God’s kingdom (Luke 17:21)
His presence on earth showed the reality of God’s kingdom.
e) Biblical Example: The Transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17:1-5)
His divine nature was revealed to Peter, James, and John.
CONCLUSION:
Whenever Jesus is invited into a situation, everything changes. He turns sorrow into joy, solves problems, makes the impossible possible, transforms lives, and reveals His glory. The presence of Jesus brings divine intervention, and nothing remains the same when He is involved.
If you are facing challenges, invite Jesus into your life and situation today. When He shows up, your testimony is guaranteed!
