INTRODUCTION:
From the beginning of creation, God’s desire has been to bless mankind. His first words to Adam and Eve were words of blessing, commissioning them to be fruitful and multiply. However, sin brought a curse upon humanity, but through Jesus Christ, the blessing has been restored.
Many people seek blessings in various ways—through hard work, connections, or worldly means—but true and lasting blessings come only from Jesus. His blessings go beyond material wealth; they encompass peace, favour, joy, and eternal life.
In this sermon, we will examine five key ways in which Jesus blesses: He blesses us spiritually, financially, with divine favour, with protection, and with eternal rewards.
1. JESUS BLESSES US SPIRITUALLY
The greatest blessing we can receive is the gift of salvation and spiritual life in Christ.
a) Spiritual blessings come from Christ (Ephesians 1:3)
Jesus has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
b) He gives us the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17)
The Holy Spirit is the greatest spiritual gift we can receive.
c) We are adopted into God’s family (Romans 8:15-17)
Through Jesus, we are no longer strangers but children of God.
d) He blesses us with peace (John 14:27)
His peace surpasses human understanding and is a divine blessing.
e) Biblical Example: The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12)
Jesus declared blessings upon the poor in spirit, the merciful, the pure in heart, and others.
2. JESUS BLESSES US FINANCIALLY AND MATERIALLY
Jesus is our provider, and He ensures that those who trust Him lack nothing.
a) God delights in the prosperity of His people (Psalm 35:27)
God’s plan is not for us to suffer lack but to be abundantly supplied.
b) He supplies all our needs (Philippians 4:19)
Jesus provides for His children according to His riches in glory.
c) Obedience brings financial blessings (Deuteronomy 28:1-6)
Following God’s commands opens the doors of divine provision.
d) Giving leads to divine increase (Luke 6:38)
When we give, God multiplies it back to us in abundance.
e) Biblical Example: The Feeding of the Five Thousand (John 6:5-13)
Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed thousands, showing His power to bless.
3. JESUS BLESSES US WITH DIVINE FAVOUR
The blessing of divine favour makes a difference in a believer’s life, opening doors that human effort cannot.
a) Favour is a mark of God’s blessing (Psalm 5:12)
God surrounds the righteous with favour as a shield.
b) Favour brings supernatural promotion (Genesis 41:38-41)
Joseph moved from prison to palace through divine favour.
c) The favour of God cancels struggles (Exodus 3:21)
The Israelites left Egypt with great wealth because of God’s favour.
d) Jesus grew in favour (Luke 2:52)
If Jesus needed favour, then we too need it to fulfil destiny.
e) Biblical Example: Esther’s Divine Favour (Esther 2:17)
Esther was chosen as queen, not by her effort but by divine favour.
4. JESUS BLESSES US WITH PROTECTION
God’s blessing includes divine security against harm and danger.
a) The Lord is our refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:1-4)
Those who dwell in Him are shielded from evil.
b) No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
Jesus blesses us with divine immunity against enemy attacks.
c) Angels are assigned to protect us (Psalm 34:7)
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him.
d) The blood of Jesus is our covering (Exodus 12:13)
The Passover blood symbolises Jesus' protection over His people.
e) Biblical Example: Daniel in the Lion’s Den (Daniel 6:22)
God shut the mouths of the lions, demonstrating His power to protect.
5. JESUS BLESSES US WITH ETERNAL REWARDS
Beyond earthly blessings, Jesus guarantees eternal blessings in heaven.
a) He has prepared a place for us (John 14:1-3)
Our ultimate blessing is to live with Him forever.
b) We will receive crowns of glory (2 Timothy 4:8)
Those who remain faithful to the end will be rewarded.
c) He promises everlasting joy (Revelation 21:4)
No more sorrow, pain, or death in the eternal kingdom.
d) Earthly suffering leads to heavenly rewards (Matthew 5:10-12)
Those who endure for Christ will be greatly rewarded.
e) Biblical Example: The Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31)
Lazarus, though poor on earth, received eternal blessings in heaven.
CONCLUSION:
Jesus is the source of all blessings—spiritually, financially, favourably, in protection, and eternally. His blessings are not temporary; they last forever and add no sorrow. The key to receiving these blessings is faith, obedience, and walking in His will.
Whatever blessing you need, trust in Jesus, for He is the giver of all good things. Open your heart today and receive His abundant blessings!
