THE POWER OF DIVINE CONNECTIONS

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Main Text: Ruth 2:8-10

"Then Boaz said to Ruth, ‘You will listen, my daughter, will you not? Do not go to glean in another field, nor go from here, but stay close by my young women. Let your eyes be on the field which they reap, and go after them. Have I not commanded the young men not to touch you? And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.’ So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, ‘Why have I found favour in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?’"

Supporting Texts: 1 Samuel 18:3-4, 2 Kings 2:9-12, Luke 1:41-45, John 1:40-42, Acts 9:26-27

INTRODUCTION

Divine connections are relationships orchestrated by God to lead us into our destiny. No one succeeds alone; God places people in our path to help us move forward in life, ministry, and purpose. These connections are not ordinary—they are divinely arranged for the fulfilment of God's plan.

Ruth's connection with Boaz was not accidental; it was a setup by God to bring her into a place of favour, provision, and destiny fulfilment. Similarly, throughout the Bible, we see how God brings people together to achieve divine purposes. Jonathan and David, Elijah and Elisha, Mary and Elizabeth—all these connections changed the course of history.

This sermon will examine the power of divine connections, how to recognise them, and how to position ourselves for the people God has assigned to help us fulfil our purpose. May the Lord bring the right connections into your life in Jesus' name!

1. DIVINE CONNECTIONS OPEN DOORS OF FAVOUR

God uses people to bring favour into our lives.

a) Favour Opens Unexpected Doors – Ruth, a Moabite woman, found favour with Boaz, which changed her destiny (Ruth 2:8-10).

b) Favour Grants Access to Resources – Joseph found favour in prison, leading to his elevation (Genesis 39:21-23).

c) Favour Positions You for Destiny Fulfilment – Esther’s connection with the king’s eunuch led to her becoming queen (Esther 2:8-9).

d) Favour Exempts You from Hardship – Boaz ensured that Ruth had protection and provision (Ruth 2:15-16).

e) Biblical Example: Nehemiah and the King – Nehemiah’s connection with King Artaxerxes gave him the resources to rebuild Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:1-8).

2. DIVINE CONNECTIONS BRING DESTINY HELPERS

God assigns people to help us fulfil our purpose.

a) Destiny Helpers Speak on Your Behalf – The butler remembered Joseph before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:9-14).

b) Destiny Helpers Offer Guidance and Mentorship – Mordecai advised Esther on how to approach the king (Esther 4:13-14).

c) Destiny Helpers Defend and Support You – Barnabas defended Paul before the apostles (Acts 9:26-27).

d) Destiny Helpers Introduce You to Greatness – Andrew brought Peter to Jesus, leading to his transformation (John 1:40-42).

e) Biblical Example: Elijah and Elisha – Elisha’s connection to Elijah brought him into the prophetic office (2 Kings 2:9-12).

3. DIVINE CONNECTIONS BRING SUPERNATURAL ALIGNMENT

Right connections position you in the right place at the right time.

a) Right Location Matters – Ruth gleaned in Boaz’s field, not knowing he was her destiny connection (Ruth 2:3).

b) Right People Bring Divine Encounters – Elizabeth’s greeting caused John the Baptist to leap in Mary’s womb (Luke 1:41-45).

c) Right Associations Bring Acceleration – Joseph’s promotion was tied to the butler’s recommendation (Genesis 41:14).

d) Right Alignment Brings Spiritual Growth – The disciples connected with Jesus and became world changers (Matthew 4:18-22).

e) Biblical Example: The Ethiopian Eunuch and Philip – Philip’s divine encounter led the eunuch to salvation (Acts 8:26-39).

4. DIVINE CONNECTIONS REQUIRE DISCERNMENT

Not every relationship is from God.

a) Some Connections are Sent to Destroy – Delilah was a wrong connection that led to Samson’s downfall (Judges 16:4-6).

b) Spiritual Sensitivity is Needed – Paul discerned that the slave girl’s words were from a demonic spirit (Acts 16:16-18).

c) Right Connections Bear Good Fruits – A true divine connection brings peace, progress, and spiritual growth (Matthew 7:16).

d) Pray Before Accepting Any Connection – Jesus prayed all night before choosing His disciples (Luke 6:12-13).

e) Biblical Example: Gehazi’s Greed Disconnected Him from Destiny – His wrong choices cost him divine opportunities (2 Kings 5:20-27).

5. POSITIONING YOURSELF FOR DIVINE CONNECTIONS

To attract and sustain divine relationships, certain principles must be followed.

a) Walk in Humility – Ruth’s humility made Boaz favour her (Ruth 2:10).

b) Be Diligent in Your Assignment – Elisha was busy serving when Elijah called him (1 Kings 19:19-21).

c) Develop a Life of Prayer – Cornelius’ prayers attracted divine visitation (Acts 10:1-4).

d) Be Willing to Serve – David was serving in the fields before he was anointed (1 Samuel 16:11-13).

e) Biblical Example: Anna the Prophetess – Her dedication to prayer positioned her to see the Messiah (Luke 2:36-38).

CONCLUSION

No matter how gifted or anointed you are, you need the right people in your life to help you reach your full potential.
