INTRODUCTION

The phrase "There is a God in Heaven" was spoken by Daniel in a time of crisis when King Nebuchadnezzar had issued a death decree for all the wise men of Babylon. The king had demanded both the dream and its interpretation, something no human could do. However, Daniel, trusting in the sovereignty of God, declared with confidence that what was impossible for man was possible for God. This sermon will explore how Daniel's faith, prayer life, and bold declaration of God's supremacy saved him and his friends from death.

1. THE LIMITATIONS OF HUMAN WISDOM

a) The failure of Babylonian wisdom (Daniel 2:10-11)

The Chaldeans admitted their inability to reveal the king’s dream, confessing that no human could do it. This exposed the limitations of human knowledge.

b) The king's unreasonable demand (Daniel 2:5-6)

Nebuchadnezzar demanded something beyond human capacity, showing that earthly power is not enough to solve divine mysteries.

c) The decree of death (Daniel 2:12-13)

Because the wise men failed, the king ordered the execution of all the wise men, including Daniel and his friends.

d) The despair of human efforts (Ecclesiastes 8:7, Job 5:12-13)

Without God, human wisdom and effort lead to frustration and destruction.

e) Biblical Example: Pharaoh’s magicians in Egypt (Exodus 8:18-19)

Like the Babylonian wise men, Pharaoh’s magicians were powerless before God’s wonders.

2. THE FAITH AND PRAYER OF DANIEL AND HIS FRIENDS

a) Daniel's wise response (Daniel 2:14-15)

Instead of panicking, Daniel responded with wisdom and discretion when he heard the decree.

b) Seeking divine intervention (Daniel 2:16-18)

Daniel and his friends turned to God in prayer, believing that He alone could reveal secrets.

c) God's answer through a night vision (Daniel 2:19)

God revealed the dream to Daniel in a vision, proving that He is the revealer of mysteries.

d) Daniel’s thanksgiving and praise (Daniel 2:20-23)

Daniel glorified God for His wisdom and power, acknowledging that He controls kings and kingdoms.

e) Biblical Example: King Jehoshaphat's prayer in 2 Chronicles 20:3-12

Jehoshaphat also sought God’s help in a time of crisis, and God delivered him.

3. DANIEL'S BOLD DECLARATION: "THERE IS A GOD IN HEAVEN"

a) Daniel stands before the king (Daniel 2:24-25)

With boldness, Daniel went before the king, confident that God had given him the answer.

b) He rejected human glory (Daniel 2:26-27)

Daniel made it clear that no man could reveal the dream, directing all glory to God.

c) He proclaimed God's sovereignty (Daniel 2:28)

Daniel declared, “There is a God in Heaven that revealeth secrets”, affirming God’s ultimate authority.

d) God's supremacy over all powers (Isaiah 40:28, Daniel 4:35)

Earthly kings may have power, but God rules over all.

e) Biblical Example: Joseph before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:15-16)

Like Daniel, Joseph acknowledged God as the source of wisdom when interpreting Pharaoh’s dream.

4. GOD'S POWER TO CHANGE DESTINIES

a) The king's acknowledgment of God (Daniel 2:46-47)

After hearing the dream and its interpretation, Nebuchadnezzar fell before Daniel, acknowledging God’s greatness.

b) The promotion of Daniel and his friends (Daniel 2:48-49)

Because of their faith, God lifted Daniel and his friends to high positions in Babylon.

c) God’s power to reveal and elevate (Jeremiah 33:3)

When we call upon God, He reveals deep and hidden things.

d) The God who promotes (Psalm 75:6-7)

Promotion does not come from man but from God.

e) Biblical Example: Mordecai’s divine promotion (Esther 6:1-11)

Like Daniel, Mordecai was elevated by God in a foreign land.

5. LESSONS FROM DANIEL’S STORY

a) Trust in God during crises (Psalm 46:1-2)

Even in life-threatening situations, God is our refuge.

b) Prayer unlocks divine secrets (James 5:16, Matthew 7:7)

Daniel’s story shows the power of fervent prayer.

c) Boldness in declaring God’s supremacy (Romans 1:16)

We must confidently proclaim God's power in our generation.

d) God rewards faithfulness (Hebrews 11:6)

Daniel and his friends were rewarded because they trusted God.

e) Biblical Example: The apostles' boldness in Acts 4:13-31

Like Daniel, the apostles boldly proclaimed God’s power despite opposition.

CONCLUSION

Daniel’s declaration, “There is a God in Heaven”, remains a powerful truth today. No matter how impossible the situation, God still reigns, reveals secrets, and delivers His people. Like Daniel, we must trust God, pray fervently, and boldly declare His power to the world.
