Summary: When we see God, we will spontaneously do something, and this is worship. It could be a bowing down, singing, raising hands, or falling facedown. But it all starts by seeing God. When we see God, his holiness compels or makes us to do a reverential action which is called worship.

So Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground. Genesis 18:3

This is the first act or form of worship mentioned in the Bible. On seeing God, he immediately bowed himself to the ground. This was the first time it was mentioned in the Bible that God physically visited a person’s house. Where and how did Abraham learn to bow down? Who taught him to bow them when he saw God? Who taught him to how to handle such a situation? What would you do if you were in such a situation?

When we see God, we will spontaneously do something, and this is worship. It could be a bowing down, singing, raising hands, or falling facedown. But it all starts by seeing God. When we see God, his holiness compels or makes us to do a reverential action which is called worship. It’s not a preplanned activity but rather a spontaneous reverential activity. The worship that begins by seeing God cannot be resisted by human strength. Even the most wicked and hard-hearted persons will worship after seeing God.

Worship is a spontaneous act of reverence that we do when we see God. So, when Abraham saw God, God’s Holiness led him to bow down. Those who see God cannot stop worshipping Him. Those who do not worship or are unable to worship God, have lost the desire to see God, or have not seen Him in a long time. The more we see God, the more we can worship Him. The angels and 24 elders always see God in heaven, so there are automatically led to worship God. Because the angels and 24 elders continually see God, they are caught (or lost) in an unending (or infinite) loop of continuous worship (worshipping God forever).

They are caught up in an infinite cycle of worship as long as they see God. They will worship forever when they see God forever. If you are unable to worship God, today ask God to give a glimpse of himself, and you will worship him spontaneously and automatically. The more you see God, the more you can worship Him. When we see God, we will not struggle to worship God. Maybe in heaven, the 24 elders and angels see a unique different facet of God every second, and each unique facet of God makes them to worship forever and forever.

The worship that begins after seeing God is one of the purest forms of worship. The worship we do before we see God is different from the worship we do after we see God. Seeing God leads to a spontaneous form of worship that cannot be described or preplanned, and it is holy. We struggle to worship before we see God, but it is easy to worship after we see Him.

The worship we do after seeing God is a spontaneous form of worship in which the knowledge of who God IS--His glory, nature, greatness, works and character-- leads us to worship him. The revelation of Jesus leads us to worship God. It is not the music or instruments that leads us to worship, but rather the opening of our eyes to a fresh revelation of Jesus. A person whose eyes are opened to see a fresh revelation of Jesus will always worship God. He doesn't need songs or music to praise and adore God. Who Jesus IS will make him to worship God.

A question to ponder - What will you do if you see God physically?
