INTRODUCTION:

In the first part of this teaching, we examined the significance of Jesus as our Saviour, the Son of God, the King of Kings, the Light of the World, and our Victorious Redeemer. However, Jesus’ identity is far deeper than just these titles. His nature, character, and works continue to reveal more of who He is to those who seek to know Him personally.

The question Jesus asked in Matthew 16:15, “Who do you say I am?” remains relevant today. The world has various opinions about Jesus, but the most important revelation is who He is to you personally. Your understanding of Jesus shapes your faith, influences your decisions, and determines your eternal destiny.

In this second part, we will explore more of Jesus' divine attributes as revealed in Scripture and what they mean for our daily lives.

1. JESUS – THE DOOR TO ETERNAL LIFE

Jesus provides the only access to salvation and the kingdom of God.

a) Jesus is the Door (John 10:9)

Jesus declared, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved.” There is no alternative route to salvation except through Him.

b) Jesus is the Narrow Gate (Matthew 7:13-14)

He warns that the path to life is narrow, and few find it. Following Jesus requires commitment, faith, and obedience.

c) Jesus is the Mediator between God and Man (1 Timothy 2:5)

Sin created a gap between God and man, but Jesus, through His sacrifice, bridged that gap, making reconciliation possible.

d) Jesus is the Living Way (Hebrews 10:19-20)

His death and resurrection opened the way for us to approach God with confidence.

e) Biblical Example: The Repentant Sinner (Luke 15:11-32)

The Prodigal Son found his way back home through the love of the father, just as Jesus is the way for us to return to God.

2. JESUS – THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

Jesus not only heals physical sickness but also brings spiritual, emotional, and mental healing.

a) Jesus is the Healer of Diseases (Matthew 8:16-17)

He healed all who came to Him, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy that He would bear our sicknesses.

b) Jesus is the One Who Restores (Jeremiah 30:17)

He restores broken lives, relationships, and destinies, giving hope where there is none.

c) Jesus is the Balm of Gilead (Jeremiah 8:22)

His healing power soothes every pain and brings complete restoration.

d) Jesus is the Healer of the Brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3)

Many carry wounds that no doctor can heal, but Jesus binds up the brokenhearted.

e) Biblical Example: The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25-34)

She had suffered for twelve years, but the moment she touched Jesus in faith, she was completely healed.

3. JESUS – THE SUFFERING SERVANT

Though He is King, He humbled Himself to suffer for our redemption.

a) Jesus is the Man of Sorrows (Isaiah 53:3-4)

He understands our pain because He bore our grief and sorrow.

b) Jesus is the Lamb Who Was Slain (Revelation 5:12)

His sacrifice secured our freedom from sin and death.

c) Jesus is the One Who Took Our Punishment (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Though sinless, He became sin for us so that we might become righteous before God.

d) Jesus is the One Who Cried, ‘It Is Finished’ (John 19:30)

His suffering on the cross paid the full price for our redemption.

e) Biblical Example: Jesus’ Suffering in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46)

In deep agony, Jesus surrendered to the Father’s will, showing His love and commitment to redeem us.

4. JESUS – THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH

Faith is the foundation of our Christian walk, and Jesus is its source.

a) Jesus is the Perfecter of Our Faith (Hebrews 12:2)

He strengthens and matures our faith as we keep our eyes on Him.

b) Jesus is the Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20)

He is the firm foundation upon which our faith and salvation rest.

c) Jesus is the One Who Gives Faith (Romans 12:3)

Without Him, we cannot believe or remain steadfast in faith.

d) Jesus is the One Who Rewards Those Who Diligently Seek Him (Hebrews 11:6)

He honours those who trust in Him and walk in obedience.

e) Biblical Example: Peter Walking on Water (Matthew 14:28-31)

As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water. The moment he doubted, he began to sink, teaching us to trust Jesus completely.

5. JESUS – THE SOON COMING KING

Jesus is coming again to rule and reign in glory.

a) Jesus is the Coming King (Revelation 22:12)

He has promised to return, bringing rewards for the faithful and judgment for the wicked.

b) Jesus is the Bridegroom (Matthew 25:1-13)

Like the bridegroom in the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus will return at an unexpected hour.

c) Jesus is the One Who Will Judge the Nations (Matthew 25:31-32)

He will separate the righteous from the unrighteous, rewarding the faithful.

d) Jesus is the King Who Will Reign Forever (Daniel 7:14)

His kingdom will never be destroyed, and His rule will be eternal.

e) Biblical Example: The Ascension of Jesus (Acts 1:9-11)

As Jesus ascended, angels assured the disciples that He would return in the same manner.

CONCLUSION:

Jesus is not just a historical figure or a religious teacher. He is the Door, the Healer, the Suffering Servant, the Author of Faith, and the Soon Coming King.
