INTRODUCTION:

Many people go through life without a clear understanding of why they were created. Purpose is the original intent of God for a person’s life. Until a man discovers his purpose, he may struggle in confusion, frustration, and unfulfilled potential. God created everyone with a specific assignment, and true fulfilment in life is only found when we align with that purpose. We shall discuss this topic under three subheadings:

1. THE REALITY OF PURPOSE

2. THE REVELATION OF PURPOSE

3. THE REALISATION OF PURPOSE

1. THE REALITY OF PURPOSE

a) Purpose is Divine in Origin (Jeremiah 1:5)

God told Jeremiah that He had a plan for him even before he was born. Purpose is not something we choose; it is something we discover.

b) Purpose is Specific (Proverbs 19:21)

God’s plans are detailed and precise. No one is born by accident, and everyone has a unique role in God's agenda.

c) Purpose Brings Fulfilment (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

Without purpose, life becomes meaningless. True joy and satisfaction come from walking in divine purpose.

d) Purpose is Connected to God’s Kingdom (Matthew 6:33)

God’s plan for our lives is not separate from His kingdom. When we seek His will, our purpose becomes clear.

e) Biblical Example: Joseph (Genesis 50:20)

Joseph’s purpose was revealed through challenges, but he eventually fulfilled God’s plan by preserving lives in Egypt.

2. THE REVELATION OF PURPOSE

a) Through God’s Word (Psalm 119:105)

The Bible is a lamp that reveals God's plan. Consistent study and meditation on Scripture help in understanding His purpose.

b) Through Divine Encounters (Exodus 3:1-4)

Moses discovered his purpose through a supernatural encounter with God at the burning bush. Encounters with God bring clarity.

c) Through Spiritual Gifts and Talents (Romans 12:6-8)

God equips every individual with abilities that align with their purpose. Identifying and developing these gifts help in fulfilling destiny.

d) Through Burdens and Passion (Nehemiah 1:4)

The things that burden our hearts can be indicators of our calling. Nehemiah’s burden for Jerusalem led him to his divine assignment.

e) Biblical Example: Paul (Acts 9:3-6)

Paul was passionate about persecuting Christians until he had an encounter with Jesus, which redirected him to his true purpose.

3. THE REALISATION OF PURPOSE

a) Surrender to God’s Will (Romans 12:1-2)

Fulfilling purpose requires submission to God. A life yielded to Him will always find direction.

b) Be Faithful in Little Things (Luke 16:10)

Many people miss their purpose because they despise small beginnings. God promotes those who are faithful with small assignments.

c) Walk by Faith and Not Fear (2 Timothy 1:7)

Fear is one of the greatest hindrances to purpose. We must trust God’s leading and step out in faith.

d) Develop Godly Relationships (Proverbs 27:17)

Associating with the right people helps in fulfilling purpose. Mentors, pastors, and godly friends provide guidance and encouragement.

e) Biblical Example: Esther (Esther 4:14)

Esther discovered her purpose when she was challenged by Mordecai. She acted in faith and saved her people from destruction.

CONCLUSION:

God has created everyone for a purpose, and discovering it is the key to living a fulfilled life. Many remain unfulfilled because they fail to seek and pursue God’s plan. True purpose is found in Christ, and those who submit to His will shall walk in divine destiny.
