Summary: This sermon explores how we can hold fast to truth in a world of flux.

Introduction: The Tide of Change

We live in a world of relentless transformation. Technology reshapes how we connect, cultural norms shift like sand, and moral frameworks are rewritten overnight.

What was accepted yesterday is questioned today, and what is celebrated today may be condemned tomorrow. In this whirlwind of change, we grapple with a profound question: How do we hold fast to truth when everything around us is in flux?

Today, we turn not to human wisdom but to the eternal Word of God.

Our anchor is Christ—the One who transcends time, culture, and trends. Let us explore three truths: the reality of change, the nature of unchanging truth, and how to proclaim that truth with courage and love.

I. The Reality of Change: Navigating a Shifting Landscape

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Change is woven into creation’s fabric. Seasons turn, civilizations rise and fall, and ideologies evolve.

But not all change reflects progress. Moral relativism, the devaluation of life, and the erosion of truth claim to liberate but often enslave.

Consider the disciples’ world: political upheaval, cultural pluralism, and spiritual confusion. Sound familiar? Like them, we face a world hungry for hope but adrift in lies.

Change is inevitable, but not all change is holy. Our task is to discern—holding fast to what endures and resisting what corrupts (Romans 12:2).

II. The Unchanging Truth: The Rock of Ages

Malachi 3:6 (NIV)* declares, “I the Lord do not change.” Amid life’s turbulence, God’s character, promises, and gospel remain steadfast.

1. God’s Nature Is Immutable. He is holy, just, and merciful—yesterday, today, forever.

2. God’s Word Is Eternal. Scripture’s truth transcends cultural moods (Isaiah 40:8).

3. The Gospel Is Timeless. Christ’s death and resurrection remain humanity’s only rescue (Acts 4:12).

The world may redefine sin, but God’s standard stands. It may seek new saviors, but Christ alone is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Our message is not outdated—it is unshakeable.

III. Proclaiming Truth with Grace and Courage

How do we preach this unchanging truth in a changing world? Paul’s charge to Timothy is our guide: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction” (2 Timothy 4:2).

1. Clarity Over Compromise. Truth must not be diluted to suit preferences. Like the apostles in Acts, we speak boldly, even when it costs (Acts 5:29).

2. Compassion Over Condemnation. We confront lies not with arrogance but with tears, as Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41).

3. Context Without Conformity. Use modern tools—social media, podcasts, art—to share the gospel, but never distort its essence (1 Corinthians 9:22).

The early church thrived in a pagan culture not by conforming but by radiating Christ’s love. So must we.

Conclusion

Anchored in Him

Beloved, the world’s changes need not unsettle us. We are anchored to the Rock of Ages. Our mission is not to chase trends but to lift high the cross—the enduring symbol of redemption.

As you leave today, ask: "Am I rooted in Christ’s truth? Do I reflect His constancy in my words and actions?" Let us be a people unashamed of the gospel, unwavering in love, and unwavering in hope.

Closing Prayer

Father, in a world of change, fix our hearts on You. Make us bold witnesses to Your truth, compassionate ambassadors of Your grace, and steadfast lights in the darkness. May Your unchanging love draw many to salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call to Action

This week, share the gospel with someone—whether through a story, a Scripture, or an act of love. Remind them: In Christ, they too can find a foundation that never shakes.

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
