Summary: Even at the worst times in our lives God is so good.

I know God is Good.

Job 1:20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head,

and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

1. Job Acknowledged his Grief.

What’s our normal response when someone asks us if we’re okay?

I’m fine Maybe it’s just an attempt to live in denial.

Why do we think that if we refuse to acknowledge our hurt, then

we can just get quickly thru it?

When in reality, that’s the worst thing we can do.

Don’t push the grief away. Don’t let go of your grief.

Pro 10: 7 tells us, The memory of the just is a blessing:

James 4; 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be

turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

1Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is

to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Job 14:22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within

him shall mourn.

Ps 38: 8 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the

disquietness of my heart. 9 Lord, all my desire is before thee;

and my groaning is not hid from thee.

"I have tried to make the best of grief, but I am learning to allow

grief to make the best of me."

2 Job Worshiped His God.

Psalms 22:3 tells us that God inhabits the praise of His people.

Matt 5:4"Blessed are they that mourn, for they will be comforted"

The word for comforted is derived from the Greek word "para",

meaning "near" and "kaleo" meaning "I call".

Exod 22:23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me,

I will surely hear their cry;

James 4:8a Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and

mighty things, which thou knowest not

Ps 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and

supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made

known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all

understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through

Christ Jesus.

Ps 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;

"There is a certain joy in weeping, for by tears grief is stated and relieved."

3. Job Didn’t let grief keep him down. Job Arose

When we don’t face our grief, when we try to ignore it or push it

way down deep inside, we allow it to grow.

It doesn't grow into something beautiful.

On it’s own it can grow into a monster that can consume us.

Deep depression. Anger. Fear. Physical sickness.

It can even become a wedge that separates us from God.

Rom 8: 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor

principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to

separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God never leaves us or turns His back on us. Hebrews 13:5

God never turns away from us, but we allow things like

grief to turn us away from Him.

Matt 11: 28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I

will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto

your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
