The Bible teaches that heaven is a holy and pure place, where God dwells in all His glory. As such, nothing unclean or sinful can enter heaven. In this sermon we'll explore the biblical teachings on this topic, examining whether people with unclean mouths, habits, attitudes, or sinful lifestyles can enter heaven.
O
Biblical Teachings on Uncleanness and Heaven
1. Revelation 21:27: "Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."
2. Psalm 24:3-4: "Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god."
3. Hebrews 12:14: "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."
Unclean Mouths and Heaven
1. Matthew 12:36-37: "But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
2. Ephesians 4:29-31: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen... Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice."
Unclean Habits and Attitudes and Heaven
1. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
2. Galatians 5:19-21: "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
No Sinful Person Will Enter Heaven
1. Revelation 22:15: "Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."
2. 1 John 3:6-10: "No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him... This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister."
The Bible is clear that nothing unclean or sinful can enter heaven. This includes people with unclean mouths, habits, attitudes, or sinful lifestyles. As believers, we must strive to live holy lives, free from sin and uncleanness, if we hope to enter heaven. By God's grace and empowerment, we can overcome sin and live lives that are pleasing to Him.
