MEDITATIONS FROM JOHN CHAPTER 14

1.POWER

The Lord wants to use His people mightily in this hour with signs and wonders. Satan thinks He can stop the growth of the Kingdom of God by persecution but God will empower His people to perform mighty miracles and confirm His Word with signs following. All those who are hungry for God and desire to be used by Him will be blessed with a mighty anointing to bring deliverance to the captives of demonic oppression.

17. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

17. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18. And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Acts 4:29-31

29. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30. By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Luke 4:18

18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

2.PRECEPTS

The Lord wants His people to obey His commandments diligently and demonstrate their genuine love for Him. The proof of passion lies in practicing His precepts. The Lord will shower His blessings on all those who would take His commandments seriously and obey them carefully. He will reveal himself to them and dwell with them with His rich presence. Let us be diligent in obeying the Lord in this New Year and enjoy His abundant blessings .

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

John 14:15, 21, 23-25

15. If ye love me, keep my commandments.

21. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

23. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

25. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

Matthew 7:21-27

21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

)

23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

3.PROMISE

The Lord promises that He will do whatever we ask in His name so that the Father will be glorified in the Son . He wants our joy to be full by receiving what we ask from Him. We must be careful to ensure that our petitions will bring glory to God. We must avoid asking anything with evil and selfish motives that will bring dishonour to the Lord. The Lord will surely grant the desires of His people when we seek His blessings with a pure heart. Let us reach out to God to receive all the blessings that He has promised to us in this hour.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

John 14:13-14

13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 16:23-24

23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

24. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

4.PLACE

The Lord is preparing a place for His children and He will come back to take them to be with Him forever. The Lord wants His children to realize that their citizenship is in heaven. We are only strangers and pilgrims in this world. The Lord does not want His children to be so attached to the material things of this world that they lose their passion for the Kingdom of God. He wants to remind us that we do not belong to this world although we live in this world. Let us focus on the things of God in this hour with the realization that the Lord Himself is preparing a place for us in eternity.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

John 14:2-3

2. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Philippians 3:20

20. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

I Peter 2:11

11. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

5. PEACE

The Lord wants His children to be filled with His peace in this hour. The peace which the Lord gives is not the peace which the world gives which is dependent on external circumstances. The Lord wants us to experience His own peace which He had in his heart when he lived in this world. He wants us to enjoy His Divine peace even when we face persecution and tribulation . We must rejoice in the Lord always. Let us not allow our hearts to be troubled and filled with fear in this hour.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

27. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

18. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Philippians 4:4

6.PARACLETE

The Lord wants His children to experience an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit in this hour. The Holy Spirit is the divine comforter –Paraclete. The Holy Spirit will comfort us in times of sorrow , encourage us in times of discouragement and motivate us to keep on going when we feel like giving up. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth and reveal Christ to us . He will also convict of sin ,righteousness and judgement. His presence in our lives is equivalent to the physical presence of Jesus. Let us enter into an intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit as we face the challenges of this hour .

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

John 14:16,17,26

16. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16: 7-15

7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9. Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

7. PROCLAMATION

The Lord wants His children to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a renewed zeal and fervour in this hour. Jesus has proclaimed ?Iam the way , the truth and the life . No man cometh to the Father but by me ? The Lord wants us to proclaim the gospel with simplicity and clarity without diluting the truth. The early church faced many obstacles in proclaiming the gospel. The authorities forbid them from preaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. But the apostles refused to obey their commands choosing to obey God rather than men. The attempt to prevent the gospel from spreading within Jerusalem failed miserably and today the gospel of Jesus Christ has spread all over the world. The Lord wants us to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in this hour with a renewed commitment and dedication and a willingness to face any persecution and suffering for the Lord Jesus Christ . Let us proclaim the gospel to this needy world and multiply our efforts to win souls in this hour.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

John 14:6

6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Acts 4:17-20

17. But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

18. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

19. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

20. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Acts 5:24 ,28-29 , 38-42

24. Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

28. Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

29. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

38. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

39. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

40. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

42. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
